Rose sat on the edge of a bed in the medical wing with the rest of her team. Jackson and his team had just left for a training exercise. Nurses were next to each of them with rubbing alcohol and three different injections prepped and ready to go.
"Soooo, not to be impatient or anything. Buuuuut....why are we here?" Lucas scratched his head. The nurse said nothing as Doctor Seraph strolled into the room.
"Hello again children!" Doctor Seraph sang, letting his arms swing out wide as though he had just finished a dance routine. "Who's ready for their shots?"
"Shots? Like, a vaccine or something?" Lucas asked. Seraph waved him off like he was some kind of fool.
"No no, nothing like that. We are going to be artificially increasing your magic reserves so you have more magic readily available to you!" He said.
"Thanks to Devon's little training incident earlier today, along with Desir's report, we have decided to grant you the power to hold even more magic. You might have as much as her after this." Seraph beamed. Desir crossed her arms and rolled her eyes.
"This may be artificial Doctor, but nothing can match experience and training. I highly doubt your science could even compare to what I possess." She puffed out her chest and gave Seraph a cold stare.
"Now now Warlock, I do not doubt that, however, they shall only be given a larger reserve, that does not mean that they will accumulate more over a certain amount of time." He said a matter of factly.
"Tsk, whatever. Get on with it, I am not needed here." She strode out of the room, the edges of her robes swaying behind her.
Seraph whistled as the door closed. "What a woman. Anyhow, let's begin shall we?"
The nurses began cleaning off their arms, preparing them for their injections. Lucas shivered as the rubbing alcohol touched his skin. "What's tha matter with ya? Ya scared of a few needles?" Alyssa teased.
Lucas crossed his arms and looked away. "I ain't scared of a shot. It just surprised me is all." He said.
His nurse yanked his arm back and continued cleaning it. In a flash, the needle had pierced his arm and a cool liquid rushed into his blood stream. Lucas could feel the liquid course through him, desperately searching for his core. He swore he felt it run through his heart. He didn't have time to complain as the the second needle was jabbed into him. Nor did he for the third. In a matter of minutes, all of the children had finished their injections.
"And that's it! You are dismissed!" Seraph announced as he and the team of nurses left the room. Hydros was waiting for them in the hallway. He said nothing as they walked up to him, his gaze stuck on Seraph and his medical staff.
"Hydros? Hydros?!" Alyssa yelled at him, waving her hand in front of his eyes.
"O-Oh, what? Sorry, my thoughts were elsewhere." He grumbled. She gave him a quizzical look.
"So, what are ya doin' 'ere? We got another trainin' session or somethin'?" She asked. He shook his head and brought his gaze to them.
"No, I was just curious as to what you all were doing here."
"You didn't know?" Rose asked.
"Nope. I wasn't told anything. So, what happened to Devon this morning?" Hydros asked. Devon told him what happened and then why they were there.
"I thought he said there were only two more operations, why the injections?" Hydros asked himself. "Did anything else happen?"
"No, that was it. We were in and out pretty quick." Lucas said. Hydros crossed his arms, his eyes seemed distant again.
