Chapter 19

Devon rubbed the sleep from his eyes, sitting up on his bed as he did so. He glanced around the room, seeing everyone else still asleep. He gently stood up, careful to not stress his back. He strolled over to the bathroom and flipped the light on.

He leaned over the countertop, gazing at his reflection in the mirror. His once light gray eyes had turned a dark stormy gray and his black hair seemed to have some silver sprinkled in it. The scars on his chest had faded and were barely visible.

Devon quickly showered and changed, flipping the light off as he walked back into the room. His team was still asleep and he realized that it was two in the morning. The door opened and Hydros entered. He saw Devon and motioned for him to join him in the hallway.

"You're up pretty early." Hydros said. "Something up?"

"Nah, I guess I just woke up early." Devon replied.

"I see. Well, the Doc wanted me to let you know that you are all to meet him and Solaris in training hall thirty three when you all wake up." Hydros said.

"Okay, I'll let them know. Thanks hydros."

"No problem. So, what's it feel like to have something...inside you?" Hydros asked.

"I dunno, it doesn't feel any different. But, I have no clue how to even talk to it." Devon said.

"I guess that makes sense. Well, take it easy for now. Relax for a bit until your team wakes up."

"I will. See you later Hydros."

"Take care Devon."

Devon watched him walk down the hallway until he disappeared around a corner. He sighed and went back to his bed. He grabbed his tablet, letting it come to life. He laid on his bed flipping through some strategies and tactics Hannibal had given them for study.

It did not take long for his team to wake up one by one. They all did their morning routines and started chatting. He paid them no mind and was contempt to sit on the sidelines. Alyssa nudged his foot, getting his attention.

"I asked ya a question ya daft bastard. Ya gonna answer?" She asked.

"Oh, what was it?"

"We got anythin' goin' on today?"

"Yeah, we're supposed to meet the Doctor and Solaris in one of the larger training halls once everyone is awake." He said.

"Then we should get moving." Rose said, tying her hair into a long ponytail.

"I guess so. Let's go." Devon grumbled.

"Awww, what's wrong? Ya tired?" Rose teased.

"A little. I woke up around two. Been up since then."

"Oh, why were you up so early?"

"Dunno, I just was."

"Next time, try to sleep till our usual wake up."

"I'll try my best sis."

There was nothing special about the new training hall, other than the reinforced walls and floors. The design of the room was the same and there was another observation room overlooking the hall.

"Welcome! This will be your new training area from now on." Seraph said with outstretched arms. "Here you shall be able to go all out. You will utilize your powers to their full potential and decimate any enemy that may dare to cross you!"

"Over dramatic much Doctor?" Solaris said.

"What? Now we get to see what they can do! Alyssa! You'll be going first. The rest of you will join us on the observation deck." Seraph said.
