Eune disabled the tracking device on their airship and steered toward Island Two of the Calypso Archipelago. Off in the distance he could see the main island and the outline of the facility.
He sneered as he landed the ship a few miles away from the facility. Alyssa had prepped their rifles and handed him his. He raised an eyebrow.
"What's this for?" He asked.
"Hey, just cause it's Orion, doesn't mean we won't run into trouble." She smiled as she put on her helmet.
They exited the craft and cleared the area. Despite half of Island Two being completely developed, the other half was a wild jungle. There was no telling what they could run into. At least, that's what they believed.
"You notice anything...odd?" He asked.
"Yeah, it's quiet." She replied.
"Too quiet. Where are all of f the animals?"
She shrugged. "Maybe they killed them all off."
"Even the insects?" He asked as they cleared the jungle. "I doubt they'd go that far."
"Hey, who knows what they'd do."
The facility on Island Two was built partially inside of a lone mountain and the surrounding clearing. The mountain looked sick, as though the facility was poisoning the very stone it was nestled in.
The pristine white material of the facility stood out like a plague against the light stone of the mountain. There were patches of stone that retained its old, shiny opal appearance, but the rest was dulled and decayed looking.
"Well, there it is." Alyssa said. "How should do this?"
"Let's go around the edge of the facility. We'll try and find a landing site where we can sneak in." He said, pointing to the mountain.
"We better get moving then." She said.
They stayed at the edge of the clearing, using the cover of the trees to avoid any scouts that were patrolling the area. It took them till the late afternoon to reach the base of the mountain as the sun had begun to set. Eune spotted a hangar built into the back of the mountain and they began their climb.
Eune used his magic to create platforms of ice for them to rest on before they continued. The side of the mountain was a sheer face and barely had and places for them to even grab onto.
It was dark when they finally reached the landing platform of the hangar. Alyssa peeked over the edge, scanning it for any guards. After she watched the last guard head inside she climbed up and helped Eune up after her.
"That....took way too long, don'tcha think?" She asked.
"A little, yeah. But we made it." He chuckled.
"What's so funny?" She asked.
"Nothing. Just thinking about what my parents would say if they could see me 'breaking the rules' I guess."
"I'd say they'd be pretty peeved, yea? I remember your parents as some strict rule followers." She laughed.
"I'm sure they would be. Let's get moving. I want to find out what we can before we move on to the next Island." He stood up and she joined him.
The hangar wasn't anything special, mainly for cargo and basic supplies. No weapons or anything militaristic to speak of. They reached the door and Eune was going to try and bypass the lock as Alyssa slid the blade of her dagger in the slit of the door. She quickly slid the blade up, slicing through any locks that were in the way.
