Chapter 59

They ducked under a turret's sensor and pressed themselves against the wall. Alyssa peeked around the corner, watching a pair of guards stationed at the main entrance.

"Do we want to do this quietly?" Eune asked.

Alyssa didn't respond as she dashed towards the guards with her daggers drawn. She slit the first's throat and tackled the second, shoving her blades into his chest. Eune sighed as he followed after her.

"I know you're upset but, communicating would be nice." He said as she yanked her blades free.

Even with her face obscured by her helmet, Eune could tell she rolled her eyes as she stood.
A shot rang out and ricocheted off his shoulder. They both turned to see another guard staring at them in disbelief, his arms shaking.

"So much for stealth." Eune muttered as he quickly raised his rifle and gunned the man down.

"Let's go." Alyssa said as they stormed the base.

Eune quickly froze the turrets closest to them in place as Alyssa gracefully flipped over a guard and stabbed him in the back. She used him as a shield as a hail of gunfire rained down upon her. Eune twirled to the side, shooting each of the guards with two quick rounds to the chest. The rounds pierced through their body armor and ripped through their bodies, leaving bullet holes in the vehicle behind them.

Alyssa threw her, now used, body shield to the side and rushed the tank. Eune continued gunning down any guard foolish enough to try and chase after her. A gunner on the tanked disappeared inside it and rotated the it's there t towards her.

Alyssa took a calming breath mid sprint. The world slowed down around her as she focused solely on the tank. As soon as she heard the soft click of the gunner pressing down on the trigger, she quickly sidestepped the shot and it destroyed a section of the wall behind them.

Eune glanced at the wall and then at her, slightly annoyed. "Tell me next time he's about to shoot please!"

She only nodded over her shoulder as she dodged another shot. Eune quickly raised his arms and a massive wall of ice erupted from the his fingertips, catching the round mid flight.

"Now I'm pissed." He hissed.

He spun out from behind his makeshift cover and swung his arm forward, sending a wave of ice barreling into the tank. The attack lifted the tank slightly off the ground and froze the turret in place.

Alyssa took the opportunity to jump onto the barrel of the tank and threw a grenade down its throat. She backflipped off as an explosion rocked the tank and tore a massive hole in the side of it.

She inspected the scene for a moment as Eune joined her. "That wasn't too bad." He said, slightly out of breath.

"We're not done yet, still have the main building to take care of." She said.

Eune sighed and reloaded his rifle. "And here I thought we'd be done before lunch."

"You can eat when we get back." She smiled behind her helmet.

"Oh yeah, I'm soooo excited." He replied sarcastically.

Eune kicked in the door of the main building and gunned down a pair of guards. Alyssa followed and drew her rifle. She smacked the butt of her weapon against a guard's face and knocked him back before firing three quick shots into his chest.

"How many do you think are left?" Alyssa asked.

"Dunno," Eune shrugged. "Wasn't it part of the briefing?"

"No, no it wasn't." Alyssa gunned down another guard and turned to him. "Did Devon say anything before we left?"

"About what?" Eune threw his spear down a hallway and skewered a man against a wall.
