Lucas tapped away at his screen, aggressively pushing the record button. He slumped in his chair as Devon walked up behind him."What're you doing?"
"Tryin' to record this entry log thing we gotta do."
"You know it's already recording, right?"
"..."
"Lucas?"
"Just leave me alone." He huffed.
"Hehe, have fun Lucas."
The boy ruffled his hair, took a deep breath, and looked directly into the camera.
"So I have to just talk to a computer and talk about what's been going on? This seems silly. Oh well."
"Ahem, so my name is Lucas Barret and this is my 'entry log'. I gotta think of a better name than that. It's too formal. Anyway, I think it's been about a month since we came here. The soldiers don't really talk to us which is weird. Umm, what else? The teachers are weird too! Hannibal just lectures us for two hours and then leaves! Just like that!"
"Our combat instructors, Arcturd, or Arcturus! That's it! And Aesir, she's really mean. I can't do a flip! I'm only six! She's too demanding. Arcturus on the other hand, he's really quiet and I don't think he likes us. He hardly says anything other than 'correcting' us. I hate it!"
He sighed and leaned back into his chair. Frowning as he looked up at the ceiling.
"I wonder how my brother is doing. Does he know I'm here? I know we all lost our families due to some bad accident but, I wish I could talk to him. I miss him. I don't really think this project that the doc 'selected' me for is really my thing. Sure, I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up but, I just don't know."
He laid his head on his arms, sadly glancing up at the screen.
"Doctor Seraph has said that we're going to get some kind of injection tomorrow. It's going to help us get stronger over the next three years until we turn nine. He said something about a surgery or something when we do, so maybe it's for that? Hydros tries to help calm everyone down, but he isn't very good at it."
"I wonder if you'll ever watch these bro. I kinda don't want you to if I'm being honest. But if you do, I want you to know that I'll do my best while I'm here. So I don't think you'd have to worry about it. Hehe, well, I better shut this thing off. Night bro, I'll talk to you later."
He flipped the screen off, shutting down the entire system. The lights were already off for the night and he slowly gazed over the room, sighing with nerves. He quickly walked over to his bunk, ducking under the covers. He longingly stared at the three moons from their window.
They seemed to reach out to him, calming him, gently caressing him with their soft light. His eyes fluttered before he finally fell asleep. His mind quieted and the room was only filled with the silent noise of their breathing.
