Devon rolled out of the way as it swiped its claws at him. The impact of the Omega's strike completely obliterated the rock he was standing on. He used his sword to slow his descent as he neared the four Chimeras. As soon as his feet hit the ground, he broke into a mad sprint away from them.

He spun in the air and threw a barrage of wind blades at the Chimeras. The air swirled and twisted in and around his hands as he landed. The Chimeras pranced around his attacks and lashed out at him.

He kicked one across its snout, sending it crashing into a cluster of eggs and shattering them. He ducked under another and blew another back with a massively powerful air blast. The last he blocked with his sword, struggling to push it back.

He noticed the Omega bearing down on him and he kicked the Chimera off him and rolled away as it slammed its massive hand on the poor creature, leaving nothing but a fleshy paste underneath.

"Shit." He cursed under his breath.

He threw another barrage of wind blades at the Omega, only to be disappointed at the small cuts they left behind on its hide.

"Shit, shit!" He pushed himself back with an explosion of air and he sent himself crashing into a cluster of eggs. He scrambled them on impact. He shook his head and he glanced down at the half incubated Chimera, its features matching the three remaining humanoid Chimeras bearing down on him.

"I'm not gonna get very far at this rate!" He growled as he sent the three of them flying into the Omega.

"You cannot be suggesting to use my power?"

"Yeah, yeah I am!" He dashed to the right as the Omega swung its tail at him.

"It is too dangerous, youngling! Whatever it is they did to you will hurt you more if you use my power!"

"I don't have a choice!" He yelled as he backhanded one of the humanoid Chimeras, feeling its bones crack underneath his strike.

"I will not endanger you!"

"Why?! If you don't then both of us are gonna die here ya know?!"

"Rrrr, fine! Get near the altar! You need some connection to the sky for this to work."

"The alter?! What alter?!"

"The contraption holding your father's remains! Go!"

Devon made a beeline for the alter, rolling past the Chimeras and narrowly avoiding another tail swing of the Omega. As he neared it, he yanked his father's sword free and stood by his corpse.

"What now?!"

"You must connect with the spirits whilst also knowing me."

"The hell does that mean?!"

"You must know my name, youngling. As a bonded pair, knowing each other's true identities grants them access to the other's power. Are you ready? The surge of magic that will flow through you will overwhelm you in an instant. If you do not control it, you will die."

"Just tell me already!" He rushed her.

"Call upon the spirits and then, say my name."

He took a long, shaky breath, reaching out to the spirits, feeling them reach back as if to say 'welcome back kiddo'. He felt his bond reach out through him and embrace him in a somewhat soft yet chaotic manner.

"Call upon me, youngling, for I am Eirlinda! Dragoness of the Skies!"

"Eirlinda!" He called.

The world slowed and everything around him seemed to freeze in place. Raindrops hovered around him and the air wrapped around him in a welcoming embrace. Lightning danced up and down his body and slithered at his fingertips. Small storms gathered around his feet.
