This attracted a lot of eyes and it didn't take long for the staff to intervene. We got reprimanded heavily with all sorts of warnings.
Finally, we were left with one single word...
"DETENTION."
Damon's POV
We drove back home after a long day. The ride was silent where neither of us spoke word. I kept glancing at her from time to time but she held an indifferent face throughout.
At times like this, I'm really thankful for my social skills. After all, I've always been good with words.
Thus, I made a humble attempt to break the silence."So... cat fights huh?"
...
...
I waited for a while but in return, all I got was complete silence.
I figured it must have something to do with my words, so I tried a different subject.
"The math quiz was fun.
"I didn't know you were so good with numbers! You almost got the first place!"
"DON'T!"
"Ok."
I immediately shut my mouth without objecting.
Even though I said it all with a smile, she didn't seem happy.
When we reached back, she left the car before me and I hurriedly locked it before following her. By the time I matched her pace, I realised she was taking a different route. I walked close by her side and followed her into the grassy, isolated backyard that she was walking towards.
This was a different section from the mansion and not well maintained, just like a barren land.
We approached a wooden fencing and she ducked before crossing one of the broken fences without hesitation.
"Hey!" I called out, but nevertheless, followed her to the other side as I couldn't leave her alone.
When I raised my head I was greeted with a refreshing sight. It was an empty space of land covered with grass and trees as far as my sight could reach.
It wasn't thick as a forest though. In the middle, right before us, was a huge lake.
The dark green water glimmered under the light of the late afternoon sun.
I turned back and found her making her way towards the small bridge over the deck. She walked up to the very end and sat down at the edge of the wooden bridge dangling her feet over the water below her.
Seeing how familiar and relaxed she was, I was sure this was not her first time visiting this place. She casted me me a glance as I joined her.
Pulling a handful a grass from the ground, she started to play with it while I rested my palms on the ground for support, gazing at the setting sun.
Hazel looked displeased.
I felt bothered when I recalled her fight with the Amaya. Just before I could come up with something to comfort her, she spoke to me first.
"Tell me something," she said with a complicated look.
"How the hell did you solve that sum?!"
Is that... what she was bothered about?
"Shouldn't you be worried about the fight with your friend?" I questioned her.
"She acts out every once in a while. Don't mind her, she's a nutcase." Hazel shrugged then urged me when I didn't answer.
