Human relationships are like chemical reactions. If you have a reaction then you can never return back to your previous state of being.

Damon's POV

I stayed indoor all day since Lisa was in her room blasting music the whole time.

I spent my time in the afternoon talking to Mom. I haven't really spoken to her since I got this job.

She sounded happy. Like genuinely happy. Guess she just received the bouquet of flowers from that unknown well wisher yet again.

I'm glad to see Mom being her usual self again. The past three years have been difficult for the both of us. Even tho she says she's fine, I still can't help but worry.

Anyway, it's been evening already and Hazel has still not returned.

Mrs. Scarlet Williams came down in the dining hall for a cup of coffee along with Lisa, who immediately called me over to join them. But the look on Mrs. Williams face told me she wasn't happy with it.

"Why are you calling him Lisa. You shouldn't call workers to join us." She said while throwing a disapproving look towards me.

Lisa raised her eyebrow at her mother who just shrugged in return.

I remain at my place, not wanting to get involved at all. I didn't really mind Mrs. Williams comment to be honest.
I mean, being a bodyguard I'm quite used to such things. Whereas my job is to protect the family. That's all.

They settle down on the table and after a minute or two, Mr. Williams too showed up.

He doesn't seem a very busy person. Perhaps Aiden is very much capable of handling everything by himself.

I was about to return back to my room since I didn't really have anything to do when the main door suddenly burst open.

Hazel walked in through the front door.

She glanced at us for a second, specifically at me, before looking away reluctantly.

Her eyes held an unreadable expression as always but there was something off about her. She looked kind of sad. She had a sulking face. As if she's been through some tragedy.

She looked at me again and slowly opened her mouth to speak; but someone beat her to it.

"Hazel dear would you like to have some cake? I made it myself sweetie." Mrs. Williams asked in an overly sweet voice.

Hazel turned away distractedly, her face now turned red.

"The party is over and the reporters are long gone, just so that you know. There's no need to act all sweet and sugary." She spat those words in annoyance.

"You can stuff your mouth with that cake of yours. Do not bother me."

To say I was shocked by her words would be an understatement. How can she talk to her mother this way?

"Mind your language Hazel. Do not speak like this to your mother." Lisa warned her, getting up from her chair.

"Sure. In fact, let's not speak ever again." She countered. Leaving the house just as soon as she entered.
