In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on
- Robert Frost.Damon's POV
I watch the houses pass by, sitting in the car, wondering how my new job would be.
To be honest, I'm a little hesitant. Not that it's my first time working as a bodyguard. But it's just the job... I wasn't really up for it.
Yesterday I got a call asking me if I would want to take up this job for Mr. Steve Williams.
I was shocked at first. I had received so many offers I completely forgot about this.
It was actually Joy, my close friend who applied me for this job. Which is beyond my understanding since I clearly told him I don't want one right now.
I didn't know he signed me up for this until later. Whereas I didn't really expect a response that too, so soon.
Steve Williams is one of the top most businessman currently. I don't know much about him since I was out of the country for a long time due to my previous job.
My previous client is a nationwide known Mafia. Damn! That was one hell of an action packed experience.
Working here wouldn't be as thrilling but it will be a great opportunity for me to learn many things and so, I agreed. Whereas they're paying me a lot for it, not that money is my primary concern but it wouldn't kill to make a heftier sum now would it?
Mr. Barnes told me that he would call me and give me details on the family background and members within a week for me to know my job and the people I need to protect.
But suddenly I got a call saying I have to start working there as soon as possible. I didn't get much time to prepare myself nor do I know anything about the family I'm going to work for. Nothing except the fact that he hits the headlines of the newspaper almost every week.
Though I did Google him to know at least as much as I could but it wasn't really helpful. Just pictures of Steve Williams and his son Aiden, along with the information of his company shares and some gibberish I couldn't understand.
Don't get me wrong... I'm not dumb okay! I just don't know that shit.
"We are here." My thoughts were cut off immediately and I look around taking in my surroundings. We were parked outside the gate of a mansion. It's a 2 storey with bright white marble exterior giving it an elegant look.
I enter the gates and walk towards the building passing the never ending front yard.
But a voice nearby stops my from walking any further. I turn around to find the source of the voice but there was no one behind. That's strange! Just then I see a figure from the corner of my eye.
I turn to my right to see a young woman standing in the furthermost corner of the yard. I can't see her as her back is facing me. All I can see is her golden hair which shimmered in the sunlight.
She moves back and forth and I stand there with a slight curiosity. She then turns around giving me a clear view of her face.
To say she is gorgeous would be an understatement.
She looks amazing. Smiling widely at the moment. With fair, almost pale skin. On the contrary, her seemingly dark eyes hold so much of innocence and in search of something.
That's when I realize what she is up to. She walked to and fro trying to catch those beautiful butterflies near her.
I don't know why but I found myself smiling as well, watching her cute self so engaged like a small kid.
