Just because I'm not talking doesn't mean I'm in a bad mood. Sometimes, I just like being quiet.
- Anonymous.Damon's POV
I lean over the front door over my car standing in the parking lot while waiting for Lisa to show up. She really takes her own sweet time to come out.
I swing back and forth on my heels in boredom. I look at Mr. Barnes standing a few away, his body like a statue.
I can feel my body starting to ache just by looking at him.
I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket and I roll my eyes when I see the caller. None the less, I answer it immediately.
"Hello handsome! Did you miss me over the past few days." I hear a sickening voice on the other end making me cringe.
"Shut up you whore." I reply disinterestedly.
I hear a deep chuckle which lasts a good few seconds before he speaks again. "Jeez! You're no fun fella." He complains and I roll my eyes.
"What is it Joy?" I ask him cutting through the chase and he scoffs. "What do you mean! Can't I just call to you check on you?"
"Sure! I'm good, thanks. I'll hang up first."
"God.. you're still as boring as ever! So, how's your new job?"
"Not bad I could say. I kind of like it."
"You're welcome." He says smugly. He takes a pause, then speaks again. "Is.. is there anything wrong with the job." I don't know why but I feel his voice tensed.
"I mean.. the environment, the people.. your client for instance?"
I frown at his words as I do not really understand his point. "Not really. Why do you ask?"
"Ahh! In that case.. nothing. Like I said, just checking up on you." He completes hastily. There's something wrong with his tone.
Or maybe I'm just looking too much into it.
"Anyway, I'm on duty.. I'll hang up first." I say.
"Stay safe cupcake. Call me whe..." I disconnect the line before he could spout any more of his nonsense.
I wonder what he meant. Nevermind, I'll just call him when I get back. I look around and my eyes land on Mr. Barnes.
We didn't really talk after our little disagreement this morning. So I open my mouth to ask some random stuff in order to start a conversation.
I thought of asking him the question I had in mind. If he was in charge of Lisa before me, then who was Hazel's bodyguard?
I was about to ask him but thankfully I stopped myself just before the words could slip off my tongue when I realized, my question was actually supposed to be random.
This was the sole reason for what happened previously today. Bringing up Hazel would just bring back his cocky little comments.
Damn what's wrong with me!
"Do you wanna say something kid?" I glance sideways to see a curious Mr. Barnes throwing a questioning gaze
my way. My brain started to disfunction at the sudded question."Umm yes. Actually no. I mean yes!" I stammered, unsure of my own words.
He gives me an amusing look waiting for me to talk.
"Isn't it a lovely morning?" Oh god I just can't believe I said that.Mr. Barnes stares at me for a while, amusement dancing in his eyes but nevertheless he nodded his head abruptly.
"Yes of course it is. But I'm afraid it's afternoon already." His amusement now turned into a smirk.
