"Appreciate the little things. When you look back on them you'll realize, they were the big things."

Damon's POV

I look at Hazel for the umpteenth time but her eyes are fixed on the floor.

She looks anxious and worried sitting on the edge of the seat, waiting outside the ICU ward as she continues to fiddle with the locket around her neck.

I don't like hospitals. It brings back some sore memories from the back of my mind. The strange combined smell of drugs, the familiar hospital bed.

I jerk back when I feel a touch on my shoulder. Walter points at Hazel asking me to keep an eye on her as he leaves to fill out some papers for the patient.

"Walter take me to the airport."

"Miss Hazel you don't need to pick him up. You are ruining Aiden's plan. He wants to surprise you." Walter replied with a sigh.

"But.. I already know he's coming." She rolls her eyes. "Whereas I wanna see him Right Now.l!" Her demanding voice echoed in the room.

Walter sighed again, not sure what to do. Just then, his phone rang.
He attended the call, his eyes going completely wide. "WHAT! Is he okay? Yes, I'll be right there. Do not let the news out..."

"What's wrong Walter?"

"Miss Hazel, Aiden... Aiden has been shot. He is taken to the hospital."

Hazel jumped on her feet as soon as the doors open. "Doctor how is he?" She asked in a quavering voice.

"His life is out of danger now, we have taken out the bullet." Hazel let out a breath of relief.

"Can we shift him elsewhere? He would be much more safe there." Walter asked stepping in.

"Er... I'm afraid not. His body is very fragile right now. I wouldn't risk suggesting that. We have to monitor him at least for the next 24 hours.

Hazel reached out a hand to him, "Thank you for saving..."

"AIDEN! OH MY BROTHER. WHERE'S MY BROTHER?"

Loud crashing footsteps echoed through the hallway as Lisa made her way towards us followed by her parents.

"How's my son? I asked how's my son? I'll make you pay if anything happens to him." Mrs Williams grabbed the surgeon's arms shaking him wildly.

"Calm down Scarlet. He'll be fine." Mr. Steve said patiently though it sounded like a warning.

"Ma'am this is an ICU ward, please remain quiet." I turned around to see an anxious nurse.

"How dare you! Do you know who I am?"

"Lower your voice Scarlett." Mr Williams said in a calm voice but it held so much authority. Mrs Williams didn't utter a word next.

I know they must be devastated right now but blaming the doctors and throwing tantrums is no good.

******

"Steve, you all should head back now. It's been long, waiting here is of no use." Mr Williams nods but says nothing gesturing Walter to speak further.
