Beomgyu

I heard Yeonjun sleeping quietly behind me while I sat near the couch reading. The book I was reading contained all sorts of information about animals and different creatures.

I was reading about merfolk when I turned the page and stumbled across a new section labeled "Dragons". I scoffed, reading a couple paragraphs and seeing the different diagrams in the corner of the page.

It was all horribly inaccurate up until I came across a section in the book which described the relationship between humans and dragons.

"Commonly kept as pets for rich folk in medieval times, dragons were also hunted for their blood which was believed to have magical properties."

I raised an eyebrow, resting my cheek in palm and continued to read.

"Dragons started to be a more common pet as society progressed. Dragon eggs were valued at an exceptionally high price and the eggshells were used as armour, making it difficult to be pierced by man-made weapons."

It seemed there was a lot the book had to say about dragons being with people for the next few sections. However, I noticed there was nothing about them turning human like I did.

There were different subheadings for each color dragons could come in, even though I was a lot sure there were more than the ones listed. I found a section which talked about metallic dragons which included gold, silver, bronze, and brass.

"Only metallic dragons are capable of assuming human form, their human form still exhibits a few traits carried over from their dragon counterpart. Metallic dragons were generally outlawed as pets, very rarely will a few have been smuggled and sold. Metallic dragon eggs look similar to a normal dragon eggs, making them easy to get confused."

I sat there, dumbfounded and quiet. It angered me the most that the book kept mentioning the word 'pet' over and over.

I looked over at Yeonjun who was still sleeping soundly for the past few hours.

That can't be all, right?, I thought to myself, flipping through a couple more pages than the book, I'm more than just a stupid pet.

I was flipping the page too fast when the bottom of the page slashed my pointer finger. I hissed, quickly pulling my hand away and saw a small, red paper cut on my finger. I wiped some of the blood off and slammed the book shut, I kicked the book aside.

Quiet not to wake Yeonjun up, I got up to take care of the cut on my finger. I looked down at my finger, and the cut seemed to be dried up already. I ran my thumb over the spot and the bleeding from earlier had stopped almost immediately.

Curiously, I washed off the dried up blood at the sink. Drying off my hands I wondered if I still needed a bandage for my finger. I couldn't find where Yeonjun stored his bandages anyways, I decided I wouldn't need one.

I picked up the book again, deciding to skip over the rest of the section and waited for Yeonjun to wake up.

Yeonjun

Groggily, I opened my eyes to see the sun had almost set completely. Wondering how long I've been asleep, I looked around. Beomgyu was no longer sitting near me and reading.

I heard rustling sounds coming from the kitchen. Beomgyu was walking out of the pantry with a whole box of sugary cereal. The minute he realized I was awake, he froze.

Beomgyu smiled sheepishly, and hid the cereal box behind him. He quietly shut the pantry door with his foot and laughed nervously.

"H-Hey Yeonjun, how'd you sleep?" He asked sweetly, as I looked at him disappointedly.

"Put the cereal back," I said firmly, "You know you're not supposed to be having that! You'll get a sugar rush at like— 2 am!"

"N-No! No! I'm not putting the cereal back!" Beomgyu retorted, "I wanna have cereal for dinner."

"You can't have cereal for dinner!" I argued, "I was gonna make spaghetti or something!"

"Well it didn't seem like you were gonna wake up in time to make the spaghetti!" He jested, and begged, "Can't I just have cereal like— this one time? I won't ask again!"

"No, you're not having sugar cereal for dinner," I repeated firmly, "You can have it for breakfast. Or we could save it and make necklaces with it, but not for dinner!"

"You're no fun," He mumbled, and closed the box of cereal. He put it away hastily and crossed his arms.

"It's so stupid," He scowled, "I can handle having sugar, dummy. It was ONE time, and that shouldn't even count."

"Even if I let you have cereal for dinner, you'd probably still run around like wild at three in the morning," I scoffed, and got up from the couch, seeing the book on the floor that Beomgyu was reading earlier.

"Oh yeah, did you read anything interesting?" I asked, picking up the book and brushing it off. Then carefully, I set it back on the shelf.

"Other than having an existential crisis? No," Beomgyu replied glumly, "There's nothing interesting to read in there, not as great as I'd hoped."

"Oh also, I got a paper cut and it healed really fast," He added, holding out his hand.

"Wait what?" I perked up, taking his hand. There was no cut on his finger oddly enough, just an old scab that looked like it'd been there already.

"Pretty cool, isn't it?" Beomgyu mused, looking at his hand, "Maybe it was just because it's a small cut, but still I didn't even need to bandage it! It just kind of— healed on its own."

"You're saying that so casually as if you see people normally healing that fast-" I respond, letting go of his hand.

"Yeah? Well maybe it's normal for me and not for you," Beomgyu scoffed, "I just thinks it's quite neat, don't you think?"

"Y-Yeah, sure," I replied, giving him a reassuring smile, "I guess you learned something about yourself, hm?"

Beomgyu nodded happily, "Maybe I could heal other people too, then I could help you whenever you need!"

I hummed in response, and nodded unsurely.
