The ship rumbled. "It's a storm, Mr. Snooks!" Nick warned. The ship was sailing into a huge storm. "Claire! We need your help!" Mr. Snooks declared. How was I supposed to help? I had no idea of how to control a ship!

Mr. Snooks came over to me, grabbing both my shoulders. "Claire listen. Imagine the water becoming calm again, and the sky parting so you see the sun," He explained to me. I did exactly what he said. I imagined the ocean swaying calmly, and seeing the sun. I opened my eyes slowly.

My mouth fell open. It actually worked! The storm ended! I stared up at the open sky in awe. The sun smiled down light on us.

Nick grinned. I looked at Mr. Snooks. None of them seemed surprised at all. I narrowed my eyes and told Mr. Snooks that I needed an explanation. "Ok. This is going to take a while so take a seat." I sat down on a bare, wooden chair.

"Every 50 years, 3 people are born. Those 3 people are the Specials. There are two minor Specials, and one prime, or also known as high. The Specials have powers of the elements- water, sky, nature, and fire. The minor Specials have two of these elements. For example, one minor might have fire and sky, and the other water and nature. The prime has all four elements. You Claire, might be either the prime or the minor Special. We aren't sure since we haven't tested you with fire and nature. You just did water and sky. Claire.... You are one of the Specials." Mr. Snooks explained.

I stared at my science teacher. I was a Special?

Thoughts roamed my mind. Is this man crazy? Is this true? What on Earth is happening! But for some reason, a part of my brain was excited. I was a superhero! Like the ones I was obsessed about! I was one of them!

After my excitement died down, new thoughts clouded my brain.

What if I'm not good enough? What if I fail my people? What if I let the world perish, all because of me? It felt as if a heavy weight was on my shoulders. It felt like the whole world depended on me.

How could superheroes be so happy? In my comic books they were all smiling! The villain comes, and the hero destroys the bad person with a smile and everyone cheers for him or her. Did they never feel that if they failed, they would let down the whole world? Did they not feel the pressure I was feeling right now?

I sighed loudly. I settled down my thoughts and asked Mr. Snooks, "Why are we going to this so called 'island'?"

Mr. Snooks started to speak. "We're going to an island where you will train, and be safe. Also, that's the place where you will live now. Lots of monsters try to kill the Specials, for example Mrs. Florist. Nobody knows where this island is except Nick, Ms. Bee, and I. Oh, and by the way, you will have to go on missions. We haven't found the other Specials yet."

Wow. I had so much to establish in my brain now. So much shocking information, and they actually seemed serious about it... Which means my non-superhero obsessed brain was convinced what they spoke was the truth. I let it all sink in (Author: get the pun?) as the ship continued towards the island.
