Lucy's POV
"How has this movie experience been for the two of you so far?" A reporter from the crowd holding a camera and wearing black sunglasses asks me and Devyn.
Devyn and I were sitting at this long table facing a crowd of reporters and interviewers. The two of us were answering questions about our upcoming movie, for publicity reasons of course.
"I'd say it's been great so far," Devyn began answering before I could. "The cast and crew are absolutely incredible. It's definitely one of my favorite movies I've had the pleasure of being in." I wanted to roll my eyes.
He acted composed and decent in front of the cameras but when it was just the two of us he was a completely different person.
"What about you Lucy?" Devyn asked turning to me, taking notice in my wandering eyes. I had no interest of being here.
"I'd have to agree with you Devyn," I said putting on a fake smile. "This experience has been incredible and everything I've ever dreamed of. I couldn't have asked for a better cast and crew for my first movie." I decided against acting like I didn't want to be there. Articles and unwanted rumors would go out about me acting like someone I'm not.
Journalists took note of what the two of us were saying, while publicists and their assistants took pictures of us. A few people from our management stood next to our director on the side of the table, supervising us to make sure we didn't say anything we weren't supposed to.
"I'm assuming the chemistry has come very easy between the two of you?" The same interviewer asks.
I cleared my throat and leaned my mouth closer to the microphone "I'm not sure what you mean?" I asked titling my head slightly in confusion.
"Well aren't you together?" The interviewer asked as if what they were saying to us was obvious.
"Oh, uh-"
"Yes we are," Devyn interrupted. "Isn't that right Lucy?" I felt his hand grip tightly onto my thigh.
I felt my throat start to close, suddenly feeling very uncomfortable.
Remember the contract. Words that management said to me, repeated in my head over and over again.
I forced a smile on my face and sat up straighter "Yes we are." The people around us smiled in content at my answer and continued taking pictures and writing.
In the midst of all the reporters, paparazzi, and management there was a cameraman filming the entire press conference, which meant that I had to be extra careful of what I was saying.
A blonde woman took my attention as she stepped up to the microphone to ask us a question "Am I mistaken or were you dating the bassist from the band 5 Seconds of Summer?"
I looked around the room for any sort of help, but of course no one in this room was on my side. "Yes, that would be correct." I said shamefully, trying my best to not cry.
"And may I ask what happened between the two of you?" The woman pressed. Do these people not care for privacy? What made them think that I would be okay answering a question like this.
I felt Devyn lean in towards my ear, "Remember how we rehearsed it." He whispered. I could see him smirking from the side of my eye.
My mind wandered off to how Calum would feel if he watched this interview. This would make this ultimately worse and so much harder for me to ever get him back. Not that I deserve him after what I've put him through.
"Miss Wilson?" The woman asked again. I realized that I hadn't answered the question yet.
Devyn's grip on my thigh tightened, forcing me to answer the question.
