Lucy's POV
I ran straight into his open arms and squeezed him as tight as I could and he reciprocated the action. "Thank you Calum, thank you, thank you, thank you." I repeated as he lifted me up so that my feet were no longer touching the ground.
"I promised you that I would get you out of this mess." He said putting me back down. I removed my grasp from around him and instead placed my hands on his forearms.
"And you did." I beamed up at him. The relief and pure happiness that I was feeling right now was incredible, like a breath of fresh air. "But how?" I asked astonished by all of this.
He took a seat back down at the counter and I sat on the stool beside him. "Well," He cleared his throat before he began.
"At your movie premiere I saw him talking to another woman and it looked pretty serious. So I stood close by to them and recorded the whole conversation,"
"Wait," I said stopping him. "He's been cheating on me since before the movie premiere? That was months ago!" I said as tears pricked in my eyes. I knew that I shouldn't get emotional about this in front of Calum, but I couldn't help it. Today has been emotional as it is.
"We tried to warn you Lucy, but you never listened to us." He said in a calm tone. I know that he doesn't feel the need to convince me anymore because here I am running right back to him.
"I know, and I'm sorry. But I couldn't leave him, I wasn't allowed to," I paused. "Calum, I'm not allowed to leave Devyn! I signed a contract!" I yelled as I stood up and frantically paced around the kitchen.
"Screw the contract Lucy!" Calum shouted and stood up from the stool. "I thought you wanted to take your life back?" He said grabbing onto my arms.
"I do but-"
"But what?" He cut me off. "What's the point of having your dream career if you don't have your happiness or freedom?" He made a very good point but I was blinded by the fear of losing my job completely.
"I've worked too hard and been through too much to just have my career taken from me." I said sadly.
"Then will you let me finish explaining how I did all of this?" He said gesturing over to the couch. I nodded my head and he guided the two of us over.
Once I sat down he opened his mouth to continue but cut himself off when his eyes landed on the mark he left on my neck, "Nice hickey." He smirked.
My hand immediately shot up to the mark, "Oh," I laughed since I had almost forgot that I didn't cover it up. "Some loser gave it to me." I said sarcastically and shrugged.
"I am offended." He said placing his hand over his heart. I laughed at our playful behavior but nudged him so that he could continue.
"I'm sorry," I said pushing a few hairs that had fallen, away from his eyes. "Continue what you were saying." I smiled at him since I could now see his full face.
"As I was saying," He said with a wide smile. "I sent the recording to Ryan Seacrest since he has one of the largest radio stations in America. He loves the band and you, so I knew that he wouldn't take Devyn's side on this." He stopped talking for a second and looked down at his hands as if he was thinking deeply about something.
"Lucy?" He said lifting his head up after a few moments.
"Yes?"
"Have you read the full article yet?" He asked looking somewhat concerned.
"No." I said truthfully. The only thing I needed to see was the recording that got leaked. That was enough for me to get worked up and end things with Devyn.
