"What can I get for you?" a waitress came up to the table, carrying a smal notepad in her hand.

I was alone at the table, patiently waiting for Amber to come in. She wanted to meet me here at 7 AM, yet she was at least 5 minutes late.

"Um, just a cup of tea, please," I nodded towards the waitress. She smiled kindly at me before leaving.

I skimmed the sidewalks for what seemed like the millionth time, looking for any sight of the bright blonde hair Amber was now sporting. In November, she decided to "change for the better of the next decade" or whatever and dye her light brown hair to an almost too bright blonde. John and I were both stunned when she came out of the salon with her new do.

Finally, the newly blonde was walking down the street, a small jump in her step. She appeared to be holding a notebook in her hand, and a pen was tucked away behind her ear. She was wearing the latest fashion- a turtleneck shirt underneath a jumper dress, along with stockings and some Mary Jane shoes. Her hair was loose, with a single pin holding her bangs out of her hair. An aminated yet serious look was painted on her face. She looked slightly determined too. I could only imagine what was going on in her brain.

A little bell rang when she stepped into the cafe, and she brightly smiled at a passing man who stopped and stared at her.

"Good morning, (Y/N)," she said when she plopped herself down into the booth across from me, carefully putting down her notebook.

"Good morning," I answered back. "What's that for?" I asked, gesturing towards the notebook.

"Oh, just some ideas I made up when I was at the salon," she shrugged, opening the notebook.

"You mean, a month ago?"

She nodded. "Yeah! I was thinking up some ideas for the New Year's party I want to hold. And I thought I share some with you."

She passed me the notebook, and I skimmed over her loopy handwriting, reading everything from balloons to appetizers. There was even a list of different themes she was thinking up of.

"The Beatles as a theme?" I questioned.

"Sure!" she shrugged. "They did just come out with a new album after all, and tons of girls would be dying to come to a Beatles themed party, right?"

I looked back down at the notebook, and next to what she wrote, she put Maybe have the boys perform a song or two.

"And it would be a good introduction for Smile, I suppose," I smiled lightly.

"Exactly!" she exclaimed, and grabbed the notebook. She plucked a pen out from behind her ear and drew a star next to the theme idea. "We could even have little Beatle toys for prizes for games."

"That would be cool," I agreed.

"But what would the clothing theme be?"

I shrugged. My fashion sense, according to Amber, was still stuck in the 30s. I didn't mind- I liked my sense of clothing.

Amber hummed quietly, tapping the pen on her chin. "We could just have girls wear dresses and or skirts and men can wear whatever?"

"So basically casual wear," I nodded.

"Yeah. Casual, but party-going clothes. Right!" She quickly jotted that down on a new piece of paper.

We spent the next hour planning out Amber's New Year's party. The poor cafe owners- they probably just wanted us out of there because we weren't even ordering anything but water.

"There!" Amber chirped, putting the last touches on her "New Year Party Plan" paper. And yes, she forgot the 's at the end of "year".

"This is gonna be so much fun!"
