Chloe
But you carry my groceries, and now I'm always laughin'
"Thank you so much for coming," I tell a middle-aged couple as they make their way out of the gallery and into the cold December outdoors. "Thank you for coming." I continue to thank the dispersing crowd of guests as they walk past me on their way to the front door until there appears to be nobody left.
I breathe out a thankful breath as I collapse onto a small wooden bench near the entrance to my portion of the building. You never truly realize how high your heels are until you have to stand in them for four hours straight.
I feel another person sit down on the other end and I assume that it's Rem, so I scoot as far away as I can without falling off.
"Man, whoever is dating this artist must be a really lucky guy," the sweetest voice you'll ever hear says. I whip around to face him and jump into his arms so I'm sitting on his lap.
I let my body relax as Josh wraps his arms around my waist and I sink into him. "How'd you get out of working on the movie?"
"We got a lot done earlier so they both told me to leave and come here. I'm pretty sure they both went back to Zack's dorm," he explains.
"How long have you been here?" I ask.
He sneaks his head over my shoulder and I can tell that he's checking his watch to see what time it is.
"I got here about an hour and a half ago."
"Why didn't you come find me? I could've given you a VIP tour," I question.
"I was on my way over to you when I saw this cute, little, old lady who looked lost out of her mind. So I went over and asked if she needed help finding something and she told me she was going to the Found exhibit by Chloe Lukasiak. I offered to escort her there because I'm such a gentleman and she reminded me of my grandma so I stuck around with her," Josh explains.
"Such a gentleman," I joke.
"When I told her that you're my girlfriend, she said that we'll make cute babies one day," he whispers directly into my ear as if it is top secret information.
"She did not!" I exclaim, unable to control my laughter. Who tells someone that they'll have cute babies? That's so weird! But I guess if she reminded Josh of his grandma, that would only make sense...
"I swear to you that she did," Josh promises.
"I don't believe you. I don't believe there was even an old lady," I challenge.
"Now why would I lie about Florence? Who just makes up old ladies for the heck of it?" Josh asks. He too joins me in my laughter and I crane my neck around so he can kiss me, which he does.
I stand up and slide my coat on before helping Josh up too. I pull him by hand to the front door and outside, where snow calls lightly from the black sky and lands on us.
"Where are we going?" he intrigues after flagging down a cab.
"If one day we're going to make cute babies, we have to practice sometime."
