We did it. We finally did it. The New Directions were in New York and we were ready to beat everyone at Nationals. But the city, the vibes, being with my friends in Times Square... It was magical.

"A year and a half ago the New Directions were nothing but a group of seven misfits stumbling their way through a horrific rendition of Sit Down You're Rocking The Boat. And now, here we are, at the top of the show choir heap: Nationals!" Kurt exclaimed excited.

"I want to hit up Central Park, get my frolic on" Tina said.

"I want to throw stuff from the Brooklyn Bridge" Puck uttered.

"I just wanna go for a walk and see the city" I whispered, amazed by the views of the city.

"Guys, hold on" Finn interrumpted us. "I mean, we still have two songs to write".

"Okay, Mr Bossy Pants" his step brother said before turning away and keeping up with the conversation he was having with Mike.

"Guys, I have news" Rachel said as she approached us. "To celebrate our impending win at Nationals I got us all fourteen tickets to Broadway's longest-running show ever: Cats!"

"You might want to check the dates on those tickets, Rachel, because Cats closed about eleven years ago" Quinn uttered, shutting up all the excited comments from everybody else.

"He did seem crazy, though. He charged my credit card by swiping it through his butt-crack" she mumbled. When we saw Mr Schue walking to us to say that we had the hotel ready, we all shruged our shoulders and began to walk to him.

"What do you think?" Mercedes said when she approached me. "It's been a while since we came here".

"Since the summer before my dad died, yeah" I said, looking at the scenery. I took a deep breath. It felt a little bit more home than what I expected. "It's weird, right? How different everything is now".

"Your grandparents still have the house here?" she asked.

"They sold it when they moved to Lima. I still want to go to the building, though. Too many memories" I said and we stayed in silence for a moment. "We're gonna win this thing, right?"

"Yeah" she said. "We're going to win this".

...

Mr Schue had locked us all in a room to write our songs for the competition, but it wasn't going well. In fact, Brittany's song about a cup was the last straw.

"Oh my gosh, we're completely losing it" I complained as I lay back on the bed and threw my notebook on my face.

"Hold on" Tina uttered. "Was that a song about a cup?"

"Yeah, totally" the blonde girl answered, as if singing about a cup was the most normal thing in the world.

"We got to get out of here" Quinn said as she grabbed her coat.

"Wait. No, no, no. Mr Schue gave us explicit instructions" Rachel said.

"To write songs, and our problem is that our only inspiration are mattresses and bathroom cups".

"Quinn's right" Puckerman agreed. "We're in the artists capital of the world. Poets, musicians, actors, playwrights... Every dreamer that has ever lived has passed through this city".

"I thought that was LA" Tina whispered.

"Guys, we still have two songs to write. If we hadn't been procrastinating I'd be the first one to go out but we really need to get to work" I said, still looking at my notebook.
