start playing Jar of hearts, episode version when I first mention it

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After escaping from Jacob Ben Israel and his prom interrogation I ran to the choir room to start the rehearsal. I was sick of people asking me about prom. Some people were more sensitive and didn't ask me a lot since we all discovered Sam's financial situation, but JBI was annoying the crap out of me. Yes, I was a sophomore who, six days before the big night, didn't have a date. It all sucked. I sat next to Mercedes right before Mr Schue walked into the class and wrote the word prom on the whiteboard.

"Please tell me we're not doing songs about prom" Sam begged from the other side of the room ignoring Rachel's excitement.

"No, we are the prom" our teacher announced, making all of us look at him confused. "Figgins has asked us to perform.

"Let's do Run Joey Run" Rachel said, making all the eyes turn to her instead. Please, everything but that song.

"Now, I know this isn't ideal with Nationals coming up, but we really don't have a choice. And we could really use the money" the teacher said. "But I know that prom is a special rite of passage. I'm gonna make sure that all of you guys get a chance to enjoy the dance too. So we're gonna stagger the performances so each and everyone of you has a lot of time to dance with your dates".

"Excuse me" Mercedes mumbled as she got up and walked out of the choir room. I sighed sadly. I knew perfectly what was going on inside of my best friend's head.

"Is she okay?"

"Mercedes doesn't have a date for prom" Quinn told Mr Schuester.

"So? I don't have a date either" Brittany uttered as she shruged her shoulders. "I'm just going to dance and, then, all your dates are gonna ignore you and come dance with me so... Your dates ar really my dates".

"Okay, but can you blame her?" I exclaimed. "This past month has been all about prom. Prom, prom, prom... I'm fed up with it".

"You don't have a date either?" Zizes asked.

"No" I muttered, crossing my arms. "I'm gonna go talk to her".

"Nobody asked you because everyone knows if Sam wasn't homeless you'd be Quinn and Finn's biggest potential to prom royalty. I'm going" Kurt said, leaving me speechless.

"No. Let me" Rachel interrumpted us and before me or Kurt could go talk to Mercedes, she left the room leaving us with an akward vibe that lasted until th first chords of the first songs began.

...

"I don't know why you brought me here" I said as Tina pushed me inside of a dress store where Zizes, Santana, Brittany and Kurt already were. "And why is Kurt here?"

"I'm asking myself the same question" he said as he walked to me as if I was his safeplace. "Ladies, I appreciate you welcoming me into the sacred inner sanctum that is the prom gown dry run".

"Why did we decide to include Kurt?" Britt asked, making me giggle.

"Because getting a look past him is like getting a thumbs up from Joan and Melissa Rivers" Tina uttered and, in that moment, I felt Kurt's pride grow. "It just might goose our pre-prom buzz factor".

"Okay but what am I... Oh my gosh" I interrumpted myself when Lauren suddenly walked out of the fitting room with a giant yellow dress that made her look... Let's just say not great.
