"All right guys let's... Let's gather round" Mr Schuester said frankly as he entered the room. Everyone finished their conversations just to listen to him. "Sorry I'm late, I was with Principal Figgins" he continued while he sat opposite us. He panted. "Bad news guys, Puckerman's in Juvvie".
"It really was just a matter of time" Tina uttered.
"Finally" I spat.
"What did he do?" Quinn asked in a very tense way.
"He drove his mom's Volvo through the front of a convenience store and drove off with the ATM" our teacher explained to us.
"And when is he getting out?" Rachel asked while trying to shut the laughter behind her.
"Unknown".
"He might be the dumbest person on this planet, and that's coming from me" Brittany commented making most of the people laugh.
"Guys! Let's have some sympathy!" Mr Schue yelled at us.
"For a guy who put his needs before the team's?" Finn spat angrily.
"We can't look at this as a crisis. It's an opportunity" our teacher said.
"For what? Further embarrassment and humiliation?" Quinn inquired outraged as I gasped. Mr Schue ignored her and continued speaking
"For welcoming our new member... Sam Evans!"
As I saw him walk in I smiled and my heart started beating faster. I waved at him and he smiled back.
"Hey everybody" he said smiling at us. "I'm Sam... Sam, I am. And I don't like green eggs and ham".
"Oh wow he has no game" Santana whispered, but loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Okay! This is gonna be great! You're not gonna regret joining Sam" Finn said as he walked joyful to him. You sit right there, next to Roxy" he finished as he pointed to the empty chair that was next to mine. I quickly tapped the seat and he sat and looked at me.
"Surprise!" he said doing a funny face.
"Why didn't you tell me you were joining?"
"Well, since I'm not the quarterback anymore and I don't need to practice that much, I thought that being in a club in which I like what I'm doing and in which I get to be with my friends... It'll be worth risking my popularity" he admitted smiling at me.
"You won't regret this, I promise. And don't worry about Santana, she always talks like that, you get used to it..."
"Roxy and Sam!" Mr Schue interrupted us. Then he focused again and continued with his speech. "As I was saying, that's what duets are all about. So this week I want you to pair up and sing a duet. And since you all guys seemed to love our little Defying Gravity diva-off, I'm making this a competition" he smirked looking at our interested faces. Now he really had made this intriguing.
"What's the winner getting?" Mike asked as we all were expectant.
"Dinner for two, on me... At Breadstix!"
We all screamed excited at the idea of getting free food. Everything anyone could hear at the choir room was “I have to win”, “I want my sticks”, “awesome” and people pairing up. Now this was going to be an interesting week.
...
"Okay Quinn five, six, seven, eight" I said as I pressed play and the melody from Just Dance by Lady Gaga and Colby O'Donis started sounding all around the auditorium. After a couple of times repeating our duet, we stopped to rest a little and drink water.
