I liked being a cheerio, but what I didn't like was that coach Sue didn't let me wear all my Christmas clothes in Christmas week. My poor reindeer sweater was dying in my drawer while I only could wear earrings; not even a headband or a hat. Nothing. So sad. But, hey, it was the most wonderful time of the year, nothing could kill my spirit.
I had a good feeling about this year's holidays. Not that they weren't going to be a little intense, knowing what happened on this first term, but Christmas made everything better. And begging the last week before break singing All I want for Christmas is you with Mercedes clearly helped. It was going to be the best Christmas ever.
...
"Hey, can I talk to you for a second?" I heard Finn behind me. I closed my locker's door and turned around, offering him my best smile.
"What can this girl do for you?" I asked.
"Help me" he uttered. I looked at him confused and he offered me a piece of paper with a lot of things written on it. It looked like a list. Wow, a list full of very expensive things.
"What the...?"
"Rachel heard from Kurt that I had no idea what to give her this Christmas and she gave me this list. I have to get her five things on this list".
"Does she think you're the national bank? Oh my gosh" I said continuing reading. The cheapest thing here was worth twenty dollars. She definitely had her head in the clouds.
"I feel like I'm dating Kim Kardashian for that matter, yeah" he sighed.
"Okay" I said, giving the list back. "And what do you need help with? Choosing the present?"
"Exactly" he admitted. "Please, please, please. You are the only female brain I understand like a hundred percent. And I trust you with your opinion, I can't do this alone. I tried and it didn't work".
"What did you exactly do?" I asked concerned.
"I kinda got her a pig that then they kill and feed an African family with it" he muttered, scratching the back of his neck.
"Oh, my, gosh" I uttered, trying not to laugh. "To a vegan? Really?"
"It sounded spectacular in my head, okay? he defended himself. "See? I need your help".
"Okay, okay. Let's meet tomorrow after school and we'll go get Rachel a present, okay?"
"Yes!" he celebrated as he walked away. "Thank you so much, kiddo. You're the best!"
I smiled watching him getting lost in the crowd. It was the first time he'd call me kiddo in a long time.
...
"Okay, here we are" I exclaimed as I closed the door of Finn's car and stepped on the snow. "Got the list?"
"The list and the wallet" he uttered as we walked into the mall.
"Perfect" I smiled. "First step, cross everything you can't afford".
"You mean twelve out of fifteen? Okay... Done. To the jewlery store I guess".
"To the jewlery store it is" I repeated as we stepped into the mall.
At first it was kind of akward. Lots of silence and small talk, and when we got to the store ir didn't get better. As if we weren't Finn and Roxy, but after everything that happened I guessed it was better than nothing.
