Callie, Jackson, Bailey, Meredith, and Aurora were prepping a cadaver."Okay, this is only a dry-run, and it's the first of many. Won't be perfect, but once we start, I don't want to stop until we get to the other side. Agreed?" Callie told them. She was the lead of this surgery. They were still only practising, trying to perfect the procedure.
"Okay. Let's go." The rest of the team agreed and all together they started the surgery.
At the same time Owen was showing, the rest of the residents, scans as he was telling them he got a call from a colleague asking them to help with a patient who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. The traditional way to treat this would be with chemo and radiation, which would give a few years at most. Instead, they were treating surgically, a procedure which involved amputating his left leg and relocating his right to the center of his body.
"What did we just do?" Jackson asked once they finished the procedure. They had all taken a step back admiring their handiwork.
"A miracle." Callie said, her eyes shining.

"It's a solid plan, Torres. You should be proud." Bailey said as the surgeons were leaving the hospital, for much needed rest.
"I am. But we still have a few days left, so I'd like to run through it twice tomorrow, see if we can get our time down." Callie replied.
"Right. But first, sleep." Meredith spoke next as Jackson let out a big yawn.
"Yeah, all the sleep I can carry." He agreed.
"Folks, hang on." They all turned to look at Owen. He almost felt bad as he saw how tired they all were. But he had to share the news. "We have a problem. Colonel Miller just called from Bauer Medical. Our patient just took a fall and has fractured his pelvis."
"What?"
"Our timeline has changed. His fractured pelvis has compromised blood flow to the leg we need to salvage. Our window's closing. If we wait, there won't be anything left to use in the reconstruction." Owen informed them.
"Okay, well, when do they want to do it?" Bailey asked.
"Tonight." Their eyes went wide at the thought of doing the surgery when they had only one run-through.
"I... would've liked another run-through." Meredith said, getting anxious.
"Okay, when... when... when can he come?" Jackson questioned.
"He's not. After the fall, the patient's not stable enough to move. We have to go to him."
"It's an away game." Jackson realised.
"It's an away game." Owen repeated. "I guess, Sloan, you're the lucky resident who gets to go." Aurora gasped slightly as she was just understanding that she got to be part of the dream team. Every resident would kill her to be part of that surgery.
