Time is an illusion. One second you're making that trip you were dreaming of your whole life, and then it's over. And whether you are not expecting it, it's real. Time is always there, ready to take away from you every moment and turn it into a memory. And that is time's privilege, only now it's real. So when it's all over, an illusion is left, with the past haunting us and time chasing after us.

One minute Aurora was in her brother's apartment. Mark was throwing her a welcome party so she could meet his closest friends. She already knew everyone. Mark talked about them. Aurora knew what they meant to him. And she only hoped that they would earn that place in her heart over time.

Time. The clock was ticking. It was eight pm. Just a day before the events would play in the order time wanted. So dangerously close. Tick tock. It doesn't stop. Time doesn't give you more than it has. It only advances and you need to find a way to keep up with it.

Then it was eleven at night, Aurora laughed at a joke Derek made. Something about doctors. Something no one would find funny but them. She checked the clock on the wall. A habit she had the last few days, always scared that time would pass by her. Like she knew someone was running short of it.

"Did you guys know that Rory over here would have been engaged right now, but she turned the guy down? Because my sister has the privilege to turn one guy after the other." Mark announced, making everyone look at him. Including Aurora who was rolling her eyes at him.

Her whole adult life she had been acting a lot like Mark when it came to relationships. She just didn't want more than she could handle. She was a social person, always loved talking to people and forming new friendships and relationships. But it never went too far, in the fear of getting hurt. She usually didn't realise that she was running away from people. But where love lies so does pain. And the brunette didn't need any of them in her life. Or so she thought.

Mark always thought that his sister would be the one getting married first. She was more open to the possibility, or she so she had fooled everyone to believe. Because below the bright smile, she hide traumas she had buried inside.

"I can't get married before you." Aurora joked. "Plus I am waiting for you both" she looked between Mark and Derek, "to have more kids. I want a whole football team of kids throwing around colour flower petals. I want your kids." She said dead serious. "No pressure." She smiled at Derek's wife, Meredith. It was the first time she met her, but she knew all about her story with Derek from Mark. A whole new drama had unfolded over the years and Aurora had missed it. But she wasn't too jealous, she had her own things over at the sunny California.

Everyone kept on laughing, finding Aurora a good add to their group. They wished that she had been there sooner. And an hour later as they carried their sleepy kids out of the door, they promised to meet up again. But none of them new that not everyone would be there. Time was bound to take them away.
