Hers
"Tatabi muna ulit ako sa mga bata." Lea
insouciantly blunted when she was already at the door carrying her stuff.
It didn't look like she was only going to stay there for a night, the bag on her shoulder, piles of pillows she hauled and the look on her face. It's as if she was already going to sneak out and live very far away in a different country, in a new house that doesn't have any appliances.
"Who told you so? Come on. We need to talk." She acted as if she didn't hear that one but before she can even go out of the door, Aga had already back hugged her, resting his chin on her shoulders.
"Please. Let's not fight again about these kind of stuff. I claim my fault, I should've been more patient and not just burst out. I'm sorry, please forgive me na? Ayaw kong matulog knowing that you won't be able to properly sleep thinking about this." He sweetly whispered on her ears, his hands traveling to hers and passing every weight she was holding on his body.
"Akin na 'yan, mahal ko. Nagbubuhat ka pa ng mabigat, hay naku." He dropped all of it on the floor not caring if it will get stained, priorities should be set. And by now? It's Lea. It should and will always be her.
"Mahal kita, sobra pa sa iniisip mo. No matter how much we fight, I'd do anything to conceal our misunderstandings and discuss it with you after we've both calmed down. Baby? Daddy's sorry that he wasn't careful enough with your mom. Hold on tight princess. Please? We only have 3 months left before we could hold you." If he loose any of his girls when he'd already planned a lifetime with them, he don't know how he can survive.
"Gusto ko ng purple na chicken. Humanap ka at iuwi mo o hindi tayo magbabati." To be frank, she was really touched with his impromptu sweet message.
However, things wouldn't always be resorted with sugar-coated words. You also need to be resourceful especially if your partner is asking for a purple chicken without specification of whether it's cooked or not and you don't have the courage to ask because you've been kicked out of the room you're supposed to be sleeping at.
It was in the middle of the night and Lea couldn't find the right position to fall asleep. Or perhaps it was because she's ambiguous to do it when Aga's still out driving sleepless, trying to find her requested purple chicken.
She could've sworn that he was already there earlier, she heard a car park but why wasn't he going upstairs? And rhetorically, she won't go down to check on him. Who does he think he is? Some kind of special person - okay! She will! But it's because she's feeling guilty and not because she has forgiven him.
"Aga?" Her voice was hoarse, vigilant of every step she takes. The only lights that were on downstairs were from the kitchen, it illuminated the living room though and gave her eyes access to sight it clear enough not to open lights there.
As she stepped her feet and waddled to the couch, she saw her husband uncomfortably sleeping there, looking very cold; curled up, using his arms as more cushion for his head.
She sat down at the couch, in front of his curled tummy and softly caressed his face.
"Hmm." He groaned; gaining his consciousness.
"Mahal. U-uhm, why? You still can't sleep? Nakita mo ba yung binili ko? I don't know if that's what you wanted but that's the best I can find." His words were scattered as he was flustered with his wife's sudden appearance.
"Bakit dito ka naman natulog?" Her voice was full of sincerity. It was unfeigned and intuitive.
"I thought of giving you some space to think. Have you slept yet? Do you want to eat? I can cook for you." She can't decipher how much she loves this man.
