Chapter 49: I'm Innocent

Eren POV:

Wall Sina Court:

Ms Glacér: "Just relax Jaeger, you're innocent, act like it" (she says sternly but she still cares)

Eren: "I'm trying but it's hard"

Ms Glacér: "Just breathe. You'll do fine" (she actually smiles at me for once)

Eren: "Okay" (I nod)

Ms Glacér: "Okay now shut the fuck up, I'm trying to think"

Eren: "Tch"

Ms Glacér: "What was that?"

Eren: "Nothing, I promise"

Ms Glacér: "Good boy"

30 minutes later:

Judge: "Good afternoon everyone. I'd firstly like to introduce myself, Judge Polly. Now, the prosecution:  Jasmin Cummings and her lawyer, Yusuf Armardin. The defense, Eren Jaeger and his lawyer, Patricia Glacér. I'll allow the defense to speak first, if you will Mr Armardin"

Mr Armardin stands up, straightening his tie as he does so

Mr Armardin: "Your Honour, I am here today to convince you that Mr Jaeger should be placed behind bars, he's a menace to society-"

Ms Glacér: "Objection!" (She shouts as she stands up, nearly making my heart collapse)

Judge Polly: "Yes?"

Ms Glacér: "Personal opinion is frowned upon in the court of law, I, and many others, will only accept objective fact, not opinions-"

Mr Armardin: "Its a figure of speech" (he says, as if talking down to Ms Glacér, a big mistake)

Ms Glacér: "You watch your tone with me, I've got socks older than you"

Mr Armardin: "I'm 26-"

Ms Glacér: "I'm not very tall-"

Judge Polly: "Enough, Ms Glacér is quite right. Please refrain from subjective misinformation or 'figures of speech' Mr Armardin"

Ms Glacér then smiles sarcastically at Mr Armardin as he rolls his eyes

Mr Armardin: "As I was saying, Mr Jaeger should spend time behind bars. The evidence against him is quite frankly astounding, me and Miss Cummings both agree that its inevitable for us to win this case"

Judge Polly: "Thank you Mr Armardin, Ms Glacér, would you li-"

Ms Glacér: "I think the mistreatment of my client is completely unethical, and in fact, against the law. As it states in Chapter 17, line 4 of paragraph 8: 'No human should be subjected to lawfully incriminating speculation that can't be proven with evidence'. From what I've analysed, the 'evidence' for Mr Jaeger's incarceration are but a string of events linked together through theory and assumption. I will also reference the leaked twitter audio in today's court session, proving that it was in FACT Miss Cummings who sexual harassed my client. I think its downright unacceptable that Mr Jaeger is now on trial for crimes that can't be proven, just because the victim is a woman and the perpetrator is a man. This aspect of the judicial system needs change, and it needs it fast. Thank you, your Honour" (she says in a stern and factual manner, not breaking eye contact with the judge at all. Standing with her hand on her hip)

Judge Polly: "Yes, I quite agree with many of your statements"

Judge Polly: "Alright, the prosecution will now present their first piece of evidence"

Mr Armardin then fumbles with his brief case, pulling out a white blouse that was folded inside a clear, air tight bag

Mr Armardin: "This blouse has been assessed by forensics and just so happens to contain both the blood of Miss Cummings and Mr Jaeger. This proves Jaeger's assault of Miss Cummings when paired with this photo"
