Chapter 37: Road To Recovery

Eren POV:

Eren: "3 months?!" (I couldn't believe it)

Doctor: "Yes, the break in your ankle is severe. Its nothing like I've ever seen before, its like your ankle detached itself from your leg-"

Eren: "My friend broke his ankle before and was fine before 2 months-"

Doctor: "Yes Jaeger. But your break is severe. I also don't recommend you put your ankle through any extraneous work for another month-

Eren: "Another month!" (I began getting even more frustrated)

Doctor: "Or y'know I could just go and leave you to it if you know best. I've only got a degree that I worked for years for to achieve" (he said with heavy sarcasm and anger)

Eren: "... Sorry. Its just, I've only been back a year and I'm already taking another break" (I conceded)

Doctor: "I know... I'm just looking out for your safety" (he admitted)

Eren: "Thank you... really"

Doctor: "You're welcome"

I decided to go back to sleep

The operation was long and really drained me

My hip flexes were victim to small tears and my hamstring wasn't only pulled, but also torn

Even if it was only those injuries, I'd still be out for 6 weeks

The ankle was their main concern

The bone completely snapped

They haven't informed me of much further than 'rest up' or the talk just now

Everytime they do though, they wear grimaces on their face

Ah well

I then drifted into a sleep

4 hours later:

Carla: "What do you mean you're not sure he'll be able to walk properly again?" (She said, completely baffled)

Doctor: "Well... what I mean by that he might not walk properly again is, basically, that he might not be able to walk properly again-" (he said in a sarcastic tone)

Carla: "Don't cheek me, I'm just concerned about my son!-"

Grisha: "Relax Carla. Thanks Doctor, we understand"

Doctor: "Tch"

I then heard shuffling going from my bedside, to outside of the room

I assumed that was the doctor exiting the room

I then flickered my eyes open and looked around the room

Laying in a hospital... again

The same white sheets, cream walls and overly bright lights

People's belongings on the blue seats next to the bed

Of course

No one was actually sitting in the seats

They were all stationed around my bed

Grisha: "He's awake"

Levi: "How you feeling kid?" (He asked)

Eren: "Leg hurts" (I joked)

Eren: "What were you talking about with the doctor mum?"

Carla (an awkward grimace across her face): "Well... y-you see Eren, love. The doctors... well, the doctors think... there's a... a, possibility, that you won't be able to walk properly due to your injury" (she started the sentence slow and unsure, then rushing the last part of it as fast as she could)
