It had always been simple for Diana. Go to school and learn. Her mother, Bonnie Bennett, might not have been a witch at Hogwarts but she was a powerful Bennett witch. Diana strived to be even half as good as her mother, at the minimum. Already setting high standards for herself at the age of thirteen.

Diana practiced a mix of her school's magic and her own Bennett magic. She was pretty good with the Hogwarts spells, it was her own magic that she practiced over and over. It was always a mix of the two for her. Bonnie never pressured her daughter to be the best at both. She just wanted Diana to be proud of herself and her magic, whether it be Bennett magic or Wizardry magic.

Diana Bennett was known to be self dependent. She only asked for help if she was completely and utterly lost. She'd rather try ten times over and figure it out herself than have someone do it for her. The way she thought of it was, Bonnie learned al her spells from her grimoires. It was practice and more practice. Bonnie was the Bennett witch needed for most complex spells and she didn't help anyone to help her with her magic so Diana put it upon herself to do the same. 'Learn from the best. If that means it'll take longer then so be it' was something Diana had been repeating to herself since she was nine.

Diana had friends back home. But here at Hogwarts she chose to not make many. She focused on her magic and her school work. Other people got the vibe that Diana was either loner or a stone cold bitch because she always sat alone, she was never with anyone, and because in her dorm room her bed was pushed as far away from the other girl's beds as possible.

It wasn't that she wanted to be friendless but to her living up to her mother's ability was more important to her. At least for now. But she also knew for a fact that she would never be anywhere near Bonnie Bennett's level. Whether she continued this way or not.

On the train Diana looked for an empty compartment but had no luck. She saw one with someone who seemed to be asleep and was covered with a jacket. Diana let out a slight sigh and entered the compartment. She had only sat down for five seconds when there was a knock at the compartment door.

"Do you mind if we sit here? Everywhere else is full" Hermione said. Diana nodded, "just don't wake that guy up" she said.

"Who is that?" Ron asked. "Professor R.J. Lupin" Diana answered even though she knew that the question was directed towards Hermione. Ron gave her a look of shock. "It's on his suitcase, Ronald" Hermione said and pointed at the suitcase.

"No not that. I mean she spoke. Bennett actually spoke" Ron said with a slightly confused yet surprised tone.

"She answered your question with two words and two letters. Not a big deal" Harry said as he sat down next to the sleeping professor.

"That's one word and two letters more than her usual average" Ron told Harry.

"You do realize I'm still here, correct?" Diana spoke out as she opened her book. The trio stared at her for a moment. "I don't think you three have realized that when you are all in the same room it's like no one else exists. You are in your own personal world even though there are people all around you".

"You are in your own little world as well" Hermione told Diana. Hermione was slightly taken back with Diana's comment but she wasn't offended or angry. "Don't think other people haven't noticed how you shut people out" Hermione said.

"Why do you do that? Don't you want to have friends?" Harry asked, now including himself in the conversation.

"I have my reasons" Diana answered without looking up from her book.

"Well, what reasons?" Ron asked now curious to hear her answer.

"Nothing that concerns you, Weasley. Nothing that concerns any of you so don't ask again, because you won't get an answer" Diana told them.

Ron and Harry exchanged a look. Hermione had been sitting next to Diana with Crookshanks besides her. Ron and Harry were seated next to Lupin. Only Ron was sitting as far away from Lupin as he could, not wanting to disturb the sleeping professor.

After an hour of utter banter that was boring and just a gap filler Diana got tired of listening to it. "Will you three stop with the rubbish banter. It's obvious you want to talk about other more important things. The only reason you aren't is because I'm here. Just talk about whatever it is, I really could care less. I can leave if it'll make you three shut up about ridiculous and clearly made up stories" Diana finally snapped.

"Broke a record of words you've said to use since first year" Ron joked. But Diana sent him a glare in return. She then got up and took her book with her. "You have five minutes to talk about whatever it is you really want to say" Diana said and walked out of the compartment.

Diana walked to the farther end of the hallway and sat on the floor. She continued reading and estimated five minutes then got up to walk back to the compartment when the train came to a stop. It was clear that they hadn't arrived yet.

Diana opened the door to the compartment that was now freezing cold. "Bloody hell! What's happening?" Ron asked frantically. "Diana there's something behind you" Ron said while shaking the slightest bit.

Hermione grabbed Diana's forearm and pulled her back, causing Diana to sit back down. The black shadow like being opened the door to the compartment and it was heading towards Harry. Whatever that thing was doing to Harry also reflected off him and was happening to Diana. As if it were sucking out both souls at the same time.

Diana and Harry both passed out after this incident. The last thing Diana remembered was seeing the professor cast some kind of spell on that thing. The last thing she heard was her mother's scream.
