"Right, Seamus because you're joining a little late, I'm going to partner you up with Dean and he's going to bring you up to speed on everything you've missed." Said Harry.

"Got it." Nodded Seamus.

"So as you know this is our last DA meeting before the Christmas holidays, and you've all done so well. But today I wanted to try something really special. You're each going to attempt to cast your patronus." Harry addressed the group.

Everyone's faces lit up. This was undoubtedly one of the most exciting spells they were to practice.

"So im going to pass you over to Luna, who can provide a really good explanation into what a Patronus charm actually is." Said Harry.

Hermiones face fell slightly bitter at this, she felt she was more than capable to explain it to the group.

"Oh why thankyou Harry, thats very nice of you." Luna smiled "The patronus charm is a very ancient and mysterious charm, which conjures a magical guardian, a projection of all your most positive feelings. The Patronus Charm is difficult, and many witches and wizards are unable to produce a full, corporeal Patronus, a guardian which generally takes the shape of the animal with whom they share the deepest connection. You may guess or suspect, but you will never truly know what form your Patronus will take until you succeed in conjuring it."

"A perfect explanation. Well done Luna." Harry smiled "so you all know the incantation so lets spread out and... have a go."

Everyone broke off into spaces and began their attempts.

Harry patrolled the room, keeping an eye on everyones progress "make it a powerful memory." He encouraged "The happiest you've got, allow it to fill you up. Good work over there Seamus"

Ginny was the first out of the group to produce her patronus. "Expecto patronum"

An elegant horse galloped through the blue clouds of magic.

"Fantastic Ginny!" Harry grinned. "Remember guys, your Patronus will only protect you for as long as you stay focused..so focus! Luna you try."

"Expecto patronum." She sang, yet nothing appeared from her wand.

"One more time go on." Harry nodded.

"Expecto patronum!" Luna said, this time with a bit more force. And sure enough a brown hare hopped from the end of her wand and bounced up and above the chandelier in the room.

"Brillaint!" Harry cried "come on you two." He said to the twins "give it a go."

Fred and George were trying, they'd got a few sparks out of their wand but hadn't managed a full guide yet.

"You're doing really well, a full body patronus is advanced stuff. You'll get there, just keep trying...Y/n how are you getting on?"

"Expecto patronum!" She said, for what must of been the forth time. But nothing. Y/n knew that a patronus was hard to conjure, but she couldn't help but feel disheartened. All her life she'd been able to cast all sorts of advanced spells with ease, she hadn't expected this to be any different. It certainly wasn't due to a lack of happy memories, so it must be her skill level.

"Hey don't worry, keep going." Harry nodded encouragingly "you too Neville, keep it up." Neville was beside y/n, and both were having very little luck producing the charm.

"Expecto patronum." Said Hermione. And a bubbly otter swam through the streams of magic coming from her wand.

"Oh my God yours is adorable." Y/n giggled.
