Chapter 33

They had already been at the cabin for a a little over a week and a half, the kids were getting use to jay all over again. Most nights if he couldn't sleep he would get up and go sit outside on the dock, but it wouldn't take long for Erin to come find him.

Erin: I take it you couldn't sleep?
Jay: No, I didn't wanna wake you so I came out here.
Erin: Do you wanna talk about it?
Jay: I just keep having flashbacks of being held hostage. I really thought I was never gonna be able to see you or the kids again.
Erin: Hey we are all here, Me, Bella, Mav and drew we're all here and we're not going anywhere.
Jay: Yea, that still blows my mind too, I have 3 kids now.
Erin: Look at who your telling this too. I was the girl who knew for sure she wasn't ever going to get married or ever have kids.
Jay: What changed your mind about it all?
Erin: You!
Jay: Me, How did I change your mind?
Erin: First you showed me unconditional love and support. Yea we did have our rough spot but it was worth it because I got you in the end. You showed me love doesn't have to hurt, and that I shouldn't have to beg for it. You showed me that love can create, and that's what we did. Secondly, I've always said that how bunny half ass raised me I could never raise kids. I didn't have a great role model until Camille. I thought I  wouldn't know how to love them, but seeing how you and Camille love me unconditionally I get to love our kids unconditionally.
Jay: You did that all by yourself.
Erin: Your the one that opened my heart to all of this, you stayed even when I pushed you away. You loved me when I didn't love myself.
Jay: I just feel like they don't love me as much, you know. I missed almost a year and a half of their lives. That's major I honestly feel like my dad, I've already let our kids down. I don't want our kids to think their dad is some loser.
Erin: come with me!
Jay: where are we going?
Erin: I'm going to show you that your not a loser. You see our three beautiful kids, they look up to especially Bella. While we were in Europe she always asked about you, she always wanted stories about you. When Bella and mav would play together she would tell him the same stories I told her. To our kids Your their hero, I know you lost sometime with them but your back now babe. That part is now in your past, don't let that time mess with present. Jay you could've been gone 10 years, and you'd still be nothing like your father. Your here this weekend actually trying to spend time with your kids.
Jay: You know I really love you, Thanks for always helping me.
Erin: The day we got married we said in sickness and in health and till death do us part. What we got is forever, it's us and the kids vs the world.
Jay: To being a family of Halsteads. Let's go get some sleep.
Erin: let's go☺️!

Erin and Jay went back to sleep, Jay and the kids slept in late the next morning. So only Erin and Will were awake making breakfast. Will prepared the coffee while Erin started on their late breakfast.

Will: He had trouble sleeping last night.
Erin: Yea, he still trying to adjust to being back, and certain things changing.
Will: I take it your talking about the new little Halstead addition.
Erin: That's part of it, when he left it was just me, Bella and Maverick, and they were still little at the time also. They've growing up a lot and I guess it's hitting him all at once now. He feels like he turning into your dad.
Will: He is far from our dad, and I may have heard you both when you brought him to see the kids. I know I could've tuned you both out but I'm glad I didn't. I'm really glad my brother married you, no one has ever really had his back like you have. Your the only one that can bring him back from the storm in his head. Your the Lois lane to his Clark Kent.
Erin: 😂 Thank you will, but we couldn't have gotten through these last few months without you too. You really are an amazing uncle, and the kids love you.
Will: I love them too, now let finish breakfast up for everyone.

Erin and Will were finishing up breakfast when the kids started waking up. Then Drew started crying and Erin was gonna go grab him until she heard Jay on the baby monitor.

Jay: Well Good morning little guy, why are you so upset this morning? Is it because you have wet diaper, and your hungry.
Andrew: oohhh oooh Oo
Jay: Well daddy Can only help you with one of those 2 things, and that little man would be a new diaper. We gotta go see your mommy for your food.
Andrew: Ahh ooh
Jay: Yea I would happy too. Now you got a fresh and cleaned butt, now let's go eat some food.

Jay threw Drew's dirty diaper away, and then headed down stairs. Erin was waiting at the bottom of the stairs for drew.

Jay: morning Bella, morning mav, morning will, morning babe!
Bella: morning!
Maverick: morning!
Will: morning!
Erin: Morning Babe! GoodMorning my handsome little guy.
Jay: I thought I was your handsome guy.
Erin: No Your my Handsome husband, now go grab some breakfast while I feed drew.

Jay sat at the table with Will and the kids and ate their breakfast. After the kids finished their breakfast the wanted to go outside and play in the snow and build a snowman. Of course Jay and Will went outside to help them. Erin and Drew stayed inside, it's not warm enough to bring him out. So while the big kids played outside Drew did tummy time inside. At 2 months he tried to hold his little head up. While doing his tummy time Andrew fell asleep, so she scooped him up and placed him in his crib. She also took some blankets and threw them in the dryer, so when the kids came inside they could snuggle up under the warm blankets.  Erin went outside and snapped a few pictures of the kids playing and building the snow with their dad and uncle will. After they finished playing outside they came back inside and changed their wet clothes and put on some dry clothes. The kids came back down and snuggled on the couch with the warm blankets while Erin prepared a snack and Jay picked a movie everyone would like. Everyone sat on the couch, Bella sat between jay and Will, while Maverick sat between Erin and Jay. Erin leaned onto jay side and Maverick sat in Erin lap, he fell sleep laying on her chest. Jay whispered into Erin's ear, "I think I'm ready to go back home now".......
