Chapter 31

The next morning will brought Maverick and Bella to the hospital to see jay and Erin. When Will arrived with the kids Bella and Maverick stayed with jay while Erin took Andrew and headed to the district meet up with hank. There was already a little tension between to the two, so who knew how this would go.

Andrew was sleep in his car, so Erin brought the entire seat with her, this was the first time at the district in an a year. Erin walked into the district, and Trudy was surprised to see her she came around the front of the desk. Her eyes immediately fell upon the sleeping baby in the car seat.

Trudy: 😳 I know Maverick is not that small!
Erin: 😂 no this little guy is the latest addition to the Halstead family.
Trudy: what do you mean the latest addition?
Erin: This is me and Jay's son Andrew Halstead.
Trudy: 😳 When did you have this handsome little guy?
Erin: He will be 2 months old in a week.
Trudy: How come you didn't tell us?
Erin: Short version, I just needed to the separation, and being half way around the world really helped.
Trudy: How do you feel now that he's back?
Erin: I'm honestly grateful, and sad but happy!
Trudy: Care to explain?
Erin: I will, I have to meet with Hank first. Would you be Inter in going to lunch with me and the little guy.
Trudy: I can make that work, I'll buzz you up.
Erin: Thank you 😊.

Erin made her way through the gate and upstairs to bullpen, when she got to the top of the stairs all eyes was on her. Kim walked up to Erin and gave her a hug, she's really been missing her best friend. Erin sat andrews seat next to Kim's desk and took him out of his seat and really introduced him to everyone.

Erin: I know you guys didn't get to meet him last night but this is Andrew guys. He a very chill little guy, he has Jay's eyes, and the freckles as well.
Kim: are you sure, cause I don't see them.
Erin: yea he does, but his only show when he cries or there's a temperature change.
Kevin: Can I hold him?
Erin: Of course! What do you say Drew, do you wanna meet uncle Kev?
Drew: ooo Oo!
Erin: I'll take that as a yes.
Kevin: Hi little guy, I'm your uncle Kevin.
Adam: okay Kev don't hog him, I wanna hold the little guy too.
Kim: well I'm after Kev, you can hold him after me.
Erin: really guys you can all have a chance to hold him, I have to go talk to Hank anyway.
Antonio: Go talk to Hank, we got the little guy.
Erin: Thank you guys ❤️, I really missed you all.
Adam: we missed you too!
Kevin: yea, we really did.
Antonio: we'll have to hangout soon, so you can tell us how you kept this huge secret.
Erin: yes definitely will need too.

Erin built the courage up to go talk to Hank, she knew this was going to be a battle between the two. She knocked on the door before getting the okay to go in.

Hank: Erin, it's good to see you. It's been a while.
Erin: Cut the crap Hank, what is it that you really wanna say.
Hank: Why did you leave?
Erin: 🙄 I couldn't stay, it was to hard.
Hank: you had me and the team, we could've helped.
Erin: No, you couldn't have.
Hank: but you could've said something? First you just up and leave, then your gone for almost a whole year, and to top it off you have a new born baby and none of us knew.
Erin: You know why I left, I couldn't stay here. How the hell was I suppose to stay here, I couldn't function living in our house when jay wasn't there. He's our home, jay is my safe haven. So when they said he was dead, my whole world came crashing down. Yes, I had all of you but the only person I wanted was him. I couldn't even sleep in our bed because it smelled like him, everywhere I turned I saw him. It wasn't fair to my kids, to see their mom always crying, so I gave us a fresh start. I make no apologies on how I chose to help my family in a time of need.
Hank: your absolutely right, I was being selfish. I guess when you left I was upset that I couldn't help you.
Erin: I understand, and I was mad at you for bringing Hailey back as my replacement. I mean I guess she can stay now, or atleast till jay comes back.
Hank: Are you sure your good with that?
Erin: Yea, I mean I don't really know her, we only worked like 2 cases together. I do remember she also wanted Jay as well, as long as she stay away we'll be okay. Cause you know how I am when it comes to jay!
Hank: You'd go to war for him, and your kids.
Erin: you damn right I will, All 4 of them are my world and I would do anything to protect them. Hank: How do you feel about coming back?
Erin: I'm not ready to come back yet, I need to make sure Jay and the kids are good first.
Hank: I understand that!
Erin: okay, I better go I promised Trudy lunch with me and drew. Jay gets released tomorrow so how about you come over for dinner tomorrow night? You can meet drew and catch up with the kids.
Hank: I would love that, see then kiddo.

Erin left Hanks office and joined everyone in the bullpen currently Adam was holding Andrew. Once Erin asked how it was going Andrew started to get fussy with Adam.

Erin: Yea, my kid knows when his mom is in the room. Come here drew, let's tell everyone bye, and thank you guys for watching him.
Kim: we're family!
Antonio: lean on us when you need us.
Kevin: next time bring mav and Bella, we want to see them to.
Erin: of course, when Jay's feeling up to it I'll invite everyone back over to the house.
Kim: Sounds great, hey Er can I call you later it's important.
Erin:Yea, is everything okay?
Kim: Um , yea I'll tell you later.
Erin: okay, bye guys!

Erin and Andrew went back down stairs to the front desk to wait for Trudy. Trudy came from out the back office ready to go, Erin told her that she would drive, not that Trudy cared. The drive was not to far away, they had drove to Trudy's favorite diner. Once the get there Erin grabs Andrew and heads inside with Trudy. Trudy found the booth that she usually sits at, and immediately as they sat down Trudy had questions.

Trudy: alright first question. Did anyone know about you being pregnant?
Erin: nobody knew until me and the kids came back, then I finally called Will and asked him to come over. When he did come over, that's when he saw the belly. He helped me out a lot, Andrew was actually born in Wisconsin, and when Will visited he just brought me supplies from when mav was a baby.
Trudy: How do you feel about everything now?
Erin: I'm honestly grateful, and sad but happy!
Trudy: explain that please?
Erin: grateful that I still get to have my amazing husband, sad because he has missed a huge part of their lives. Happy that our story isn't over, it's just beginning. I won't lie I did have a nightmare about jay, be him laying next to me and just talking me out of it was truly comforting. I honestly couldn't function without him, I know that sounds pathetic.....
Trudy: No it doesn't, sounds more like he's your soulmate.
Erin:😊 He definitely is, my life didn't start till I met jay. Im really glad to have him back, so are the kids.
Trudy: I must say Andrew is one handsome little boy, and the Halstead genes are strong.
Erin: yes they are! I love them!

Trudy and Erin ordered their lunch and talked a little bit more. Before leaving Erin ordered Jay, Will and the kids some lunch. Once they were finished Erin paid the check, and then dropped Trudy back off at the district. She then headed to the hospital to reunite with her family.
