twenty-nine.

looking up from the older with wide-open eyes, donghyuck froze in his position. this did not go as palm. now mark is going to think that he walked all the way to the coffee shop—which is true—and he thinks that—

"what are you doing here?"

exactly donghyuck's question right now. why did he walk all the way here to the shop? now what is he going to reason out now, "i-i was about to go home and..." cmon donghyuck, think! "a-and stop on a n-nearby coffee shop for a coffee...?" yep! that's his reason, good job donghyu—

"but our house is in the opposite direction." 

yeah... forgot about that...

hearing the familiar name made lucas jumped up from his seat, turning his head towards the direction. "haechan?" luacs asked himself as he looked at mark who's standing in front of the glass door. finally taking a clearer view of the figure, a smile made its way on the taller's lips.

"woah, haechan!" lucas squealed, standing up from his seat, startling the two soulmates for a second. "long time no see!" 

donghyuck looked behind the older to where the voice is coming from and then he furrowed his brows. he does look familiar, but he can't quite pinpoint who he is. "lucas?" donghyuck hesitantly asks and lucas instantly nods.

mark on the other hand stared at the two in front of him, having no idea what to do. "let's have coffee!" lucas exclaims which snaped mark out from his thoughts. but the store is closed now, mark thought. seeing that mark won't leave in front of donghyuck, lucas slightly pats him. "can he?"

"oh sure... i guess." mark replies, already making his way behind the counter.

lucas invited donghyuck inside the place, acting like he owns the shop as he leads donghyuck towards one of the tables. "here." mark gave donghyuck a cup of coffee and was about to leave but lucas pulled his hand.

"are you not going to join us?"

he shook his head with a forced smile, "i'll go start cleaning the counter and the kitchen." said mark, and both of them just nods.

seeing that mark is nowhere to be seen, lucas leaned towards the younger but not too close and with a smile on his face.

"so... how are you and mark?" lucas asked, looking at donghyuck who's sipping his cup. "did he made a move yet?" 

poor donghyuck, he's just sitting there drinking his cup of coffee, and lucas here really has to ask this kind of question which resulted in him choking on the liquid. should he blame his not-so-innocent mind here?

"hey! i'm not talking about that!" lucas quickly defends, handing donghyuck some tissues, "i mean... you two are living in the same house so you know?"

after wiping all of the coffee from his mouth, donghyuck vigorously shake his head as a no. "no, nothing happened."

"okay, i see, i see..." lucas slowly nods, putting his hands up in defeat. but do you think he'll believe him that easily? no, of course not. "not even a kiss?"

"lucas!"

the taller laughed at how cute donghyuck is while annoyed. "i'm just playing!" lucas said, "but you see... if i remember correctly, i told mark on the phone to make just a slight move already... did he not do it?"

do what? it might be because he doesn't really spare mark a glance for even the slightest bit or he just failed to notice.

tilting his head, "uh... no?"

"really?!" lucas sighed in disappointment to his friend—mark. "i told him to say "i love you" to you already!" lucas said while shaking his head. mark and his shy ass, lucas thought.

i love you? on the phone? donghyuck's brows slowly curves up as he tries to process what the older just said.

donghyuck stood up from his bed and down towards downstairs where the muffles are located. that's probably mark in the kitchen, the younger thought, dragging himself towards thr kitchen.

"i love you."

that was lucas...?

a sudden voice is heard, startling donghyuck for a second. he saw mark walking out of the kitchen, "i'm done cleaning now," he said, "let's go?"

lucas nods, but donghyuck remained still on his position looking at mark with wide open eyes.

there has to be no way.

"donghyuck?" both lucas and mark said in unison, looking at the younger who's still not moving an inch on his position.

walking towards his best friend with wide open eyes glues on a specific book, and mouth open. jaemin just can't believe what's happening. "donghyuck, what's happening." jaemin dramatically said, still not looking up from what he's holding, "do you see what i'm holding right now?"

looking if donghyuck is paying attention to whatever jaemin is saying right now, turns out he's not. sighing, he snapped his fingers just in front of the older, "hello?"

shaking his head, "what now?"

jaemin clicked his tongue, showing donghyuck what's on his hands. "mark gave me this," he said as he lifted up the book, "mark said you don't like it which is weird to me. didn't you just said you wanted to read this?"

oh that one. the book that mark gave to donghyuck and he just had to reject it. honestly, he doesn't know what going with him when he said that, but too late now.

"changed my mind." donghyuck simply replied. his mind is too occupied with a lot of things to even pay attention to what the younger is saying.

why would mark just easily give jaemin the book? because last time he checked, he knows mark is the type of person to not simply give up like that. not to mention, it's been days since he last saw donghyuck and mark together, mark doesn't even pick donghyuck up from the library, it's always jaemin who does it.

"something's fishy here..." now jaemin is talking to himself.

pointing his fingers on the air, trying to connect the dots inside his head, even trying to do the math if that's even possible. he looked up to the ceiling as if he's going to find any answers there, "no because, why did mark gave me this book—"

"are you listening?"

donghyuck's question ruined jaemin's thought, causing jaemin to jump slightly on his seat. "y-you said something?"

"i said i'm going to head out first." donghyuck told, already packing his things inside his bag, and grabbed his book to placed it back on the shelf.

"already? i just got here!" jaemin whisper-shouted, looking at donghyuck with wide eyes, "and you're leaving me again?"
