Five Stages Of Greif, My Friend

I slowly opened my eyes, the nightmare foggy in my brain. I tried to remember some part of it, but that wasn't the priority. I was back in the shadow realm. I was expecting an attack, so I settled into a defensive position. "Calm down, love. It's just me." Silhouette materialized in front of me, effectively making me stumble. "Though, I do wish to change this atmosphere. It's awfully dark. Doesn't suit my color."

"I don't even know if I'm safe, and you're worried about your color?!" I glared at the white blob, getting myself together and standing up.

"Look, I can guarantee that you are safe. It isn't what normal people would define as safe, but you won't die here. Or get tortured. You know what I mean." He's playful attitude was getting on my nerves a little, but I trusted him. I knew I wouldn't get hurt, what I was really worried about was my friends.

"Do you know where I am?" And if my classmates are okay?

"You, young lady, are in the Shie Hassaikai base! Also, right next door to your almost daughter Eri. I heard that they stole you just like your little friend. Only you ended up here and he ended up in the League of Villains base, or whatever they go by."

I sighed, rubbing my temples. "If they come in here now, they'll end up dead. I need to get out, and fast. They're gonna go after the Shie Hassaikai even after I'm out of here. They'll ask for intel and shit. I can't get out of this without siding with someone. If I'm going out I should at least take Eri with me." He created a small chair behind me, implying that I should sit down. "Crap. This is harder than I thought."

Silhouette made a chair for himself as well, facing me. "Why do you think that? You're under no obligation to do that. You could just pretend you never knew any of them and escape. Why not do that?"

"Look, she's a child. She deserves some happiness in her life."

"Ah, see it's always one thing that drives to do what you do. You keep on trying to live like nothing happened, but you need to understand the impact they had on you. You can't act like you're okay." He placed his hand on my shoulder and rubbed my shoulder using his thumb sympathetically. "You're projecting yourself onto her, (y/n). You mean well, I know, but stop seeeing yourself in her and protect who she is. Don't be the person you needed when you were younger, but who she needs."

Realization hit me harder than I thought. I knew I had to face it at some point, but this wasn't how I expected to face it. The shadows surrounding me started to feel suffocating, claustrophobic. "Hey, Silhouette, I think it's best if I get to leave now."

"Well, of course. As you wish. You will awake in a few seconds." He patted my head, getting more transparent by the second. "Make the right choices. Not everything needs to be tampered with to get to the right path."

My eyes flickered open once again, but this time bright light was shining on my face. I had woken up in room that was bleak and colorless. Everything was white, even the light. I was wearing the same clothes as when I was abducted, and nothing seemed to be taken from me.

The room exactly like Eri's room, only the walls weren't covered in paintings and drawings made by said child. I examined the room, checking for cameras but there seemed to be none. Banging on the door, I tried to gain the attention of anyone in the vicinity. My efforts were soon answered when Kai walked in the room with Chrono.

"What the hell is going on?" Patience was not a virtue I had at the moment and I was more than pissed that he abducted me. What was worse was the fact that they had put me in a tight spot. The way I would react would carve which path I would follow. The heroes or the villains, the good side or the bad side. And everything was honestly getting annoying.

"Do not worry (y/n). You are not in bad hands and we'll make sure nothing bad happens to you either. You are safe (y/n)."

"Y'know, from the situation at hand, I don't think you should use my first name." I hadn't felt this much anger, since what had happened in the alley. I scoffed, wondering how dumb these guys were. "Overhaul, do you know what you're dealing with? My friends are from one of the best hero schools, taught by All Might himself. What made you think you could get away with this, huh? Do you know how much trouble you're in, the consequences of your actions?"

"You are overreacting. The safety of our base is and never was compromised. Everything is as it should be. And I don't think a few fifteen year olds are going to be allowed to do search party on their own."

"You wouldn't believe how reckless they can be." I sighed, trying to calm myself down. "I know for a fact that they'll find this place at one point and when that times comes I'll take Eri with me." His eyes widened, feeling betrayal probably. I saw his fists clench from the corner of my eyes. This was probably very stressful for him, and I could understand but not sympathize. "We both know that day will come and it makes no difference it's early."

"Chrono. Get her settled and ready. Then accompany her to Eri's room. She'll be ecstatic when she meets her 'older sister'." He stormed out the room, leaving the silver haired boy feel awkward and nervous. He fiddled with the hem of his sleeve and looked everywhere except my eyes.

"So, uh, welcome back I guess." He muttered, uncomfortable. "This isn't much of a welcome but I have to listen to boss's orders. Kinda unfair for you but I can't do anything about it." He scratched his cheek awkwardly. "So, um, do you need anything or are you ready to meet Eri?"

"Might as well. Though I do need some new clothes." He nodded, and signaled me to follow him. "Eri has been agitated lately. She's seeing a lot of nightmares lately. Maybe you'll be able to help her calm herself." He explained while opening the door, holding it open for me to enter. "I'll see you later" He smiled and left, closing the door behind him.

Before I could react, a small body threw itself at me. "I've missed you so much, sissy!" She smiled into my legs, her whole body shaking with excitement. "Come on! I've drawn something and I really want to show you this!" She pulled on my hand, pointing at her walls which were covered in drawings. Each one was better than the one before, showing her immense improvement.

"Eri, can I talk to you for a minute?" The seriousness in my voice made her stop and turn around to meet my gaze. I bent down onto my knees to reach her levels, trying to not intimidate her and keep the conversation to ourselves. "One day, we may have to run away." I whispered, turning my voice as low as it could go. "At that day, I'll open the door and tell you come with me. If I do that, I need you to run to me, no questions asked, okay? I'm gonna get you out of here."

"Is sissy gonna get in trouble?" Her hands gripped mine, her sweet voice low.

"Don't worry about me Eri. But sissy promises that she'll get you out of this. One way or the other." I changed my posture, more open and inviting than before. "Why don't we start on a new painting? I just played a new game and we can try and draw them, hm?" My voice was back to normal, but I made it more upbeat and excited to change the aura of the room.

Eri nodded happily and picked up her painting set, moving to the table. While she was busy drawing, my mind wandered to make a plan if need be. That's when I realized that this would be more complicated than I thought.

Y'all I just started watching a play through of Detroit : Become Human and the moment I saw Conner I just went 'sir your hand in marriage???'. He's just so cute 🥺💕. I'm watching a play through cause I don't have a PS4 and Detroit isn't available on Nintendo 😩. I wish I could just squeeze his cute freaking cheeks and just protect him from everything istg. I'll stop my simping now and work on the next chapter.

As you can see, the chapters are getting released in a much weirder pace. That's because I'm working on multiple chapters at the same time.
