I sighed and twirled my hair. It had been three days since I had been kidnapped, officially making me captured longer than blasty boi. I had been devising my plan for escape the whole time, in my mind obviously. I wasn't dumb enough to write it down and then get caught. Chisaki had been nice enough to let me keep my phone, which let me hold contact with Shigaraki.
But I had my plan ready. I jotted down a note explaining all the necessary actions to be taken after my departure. I wrote that he should leave with everyone to the new base camp Shigaraki had sent me the address of. I also recommended that he forget about Eri, considering that she would be under the care of U.A. after reaching the police. And last but not least, I bid my goodbye to him, Chrono and the others, and signed the letter. I placed the letter in my cupboard and waited for a window of opportunity to leave.
The plan was weak, but what else was I supposed to do? Leave him hanging? He had the necessary amount of blood from her to continue his research and he had enough for a while. After that, he was on his own. But if he didn't play along... Eri's safety was the of the utmost importance and I would do anything, anything, to keep her safe.
Later that day, Chrono left my food on the table, like usual after the meetings. I ate a few bites to make it seem like any other day, saving a granola bar for later. I creaked the door open, checking if anyone was standing nearby and sped into Eri room. I closed the door as silently as I could. "Eri, quick. Get your important stuff and come on!"
She nodded and quickly grabbed a box from her table, holding it tightly against her frail body. She held my hand firmly, giving me reassuring look that cemented my trust in her furthermore. With a final sigh, we both stepped out of her room.
Being silent and fast was hard. Checking every corner and forked paths for other people twice reminded me of when I was taught road safety at all the different schools I'd been to. Changing schools so many times resulted in the instructions being practically burned into my brain. And if they found us, I could be burned literally.
Every random sound made us jump, even if they were just echoes. It was nerve racking and what was worse was the fact that I knew that no one would be able to help us. We had to find our own way out of there and fast.
We could see the exit in the distance, the number of doors getting lesser with each step. My mind started to think of all the things I would do after escaping from the treacherous and bland white walls which had no fun things whatsoever. My daydreaming was cut short when we heard noise come from behind us, making Eri's hold on me tighten. We quickly opened a door and stormed in, not checking if anyone was inside. This turned out to be a big mistake.
A dumbfounded Chrono stared at me and Eri, who was trembling in her shoes. I laughed nervously, slowly pushing the child behind me. "Hey... Hi... How you doin'?"
"(Y/n)... What- What are you doing?" His gaze shifted between me and the small person behind me. He was really hurt. His body language made it obvious and the look he gave me didn't tell me otherwise. "You're not- You're not gonna leave us, are you?" The way he said it, god, it made want to turn back and act like this didn't happen. That all of this was a bad dream and all of us were just students in a college and I just had a weird au dream. But this was now, and this choice would shape my future.
"Chrono, listen to me." I held his hands in mine, peering into his eyes with as much strength as I could. "Don't tell anyone about this, okay? You never saw me, I never saw you."
"I'll have to tell boss! He trusts me! I'll be betraying him if I don't tell."
"Well you'd be betraying me, breaking my trust if you do tell." I looked down at the ground, trying to build my case. "Look at her, Chrono. Look at the little child. Do you want to ruin her hopes of a good future? She can have a happy life! I'll get to see my mother/father! They already lost their lover they can't lose me too."
He looked confused, almost leaning away from me, but a little puppy dog eyes from Eri did the trick. He slowly nodded, agreeing to lead us to safety. And soon, we were back on track. Things were going good but considering I knew almost every single pathway in the base, I didn't expect otherwise.
Chrono les us out until we reached the alley, where he stopped walking and turned to look me in the eyes. "(Y/n), if anyone sees me like this they'll kill me." He held my hands, his expression desperate. "Can I truly trust you?"
"Don't worry. I won't mention your name. There's a note in my cupboard that'll tell you everything you need to survive. Take it and leave. Act like you never existed. Like you were never there. Consider it my way of repaying your kindness." I leaned in, placing a soft kiss on his cheek. I flashed him a smile, a parting smile if you will. "Stay safe." And with that, me and Eri ran hand in hand to the nearest police station. We were free, but who knows for how long.
Chrono's pants echoed through a room that formerly belonged to a certain (h/c) haired girl. He had checked every drawer and cupboard in her room, only to end up empty handed. He was growing frustrated, a little seed of doubt growing in his head. He growled angrily, throwing his hands up and admitting defeat. He felt a lot of guilt for what he had done, wondering how he would look his boss in the eyes again. It seemed he didn't need to worry about that.
"Chrono, looking for this?" A chill ran down the man's spine when he realized who the owner of the voice was. Overhaul held the letter in his hands, his grip tightening by the second. "I didn't expect things to go this way, you know? At least not from you." He got up close to the silver, forcing him to move back. "Chrono you have been undignified, treacherous and disloyal."
Chrono gulped. He had never heard this much venom in his boss's voice, not even when he was dealing with the worst of people. "And worst of all, partner, you took my dearest away from me." Overhaul slowly removed his gloves from his hands, revealing his twitching fingers that ached for blood. "For that, you are going to pay."
In his last moments, Chrono recalled something that you said a few minutes before you exited onto the alley, a few minutes before the girl he loved would fly free with Eri. He knew that you were mindlessly babbling to pass time and even though you were whispering he could hear you clear as day. After all, he had to be attentive to know the things you liked.
"There's really no other reasons I'm leaving except for my family. There's nothing I'm running from. Kai's really not that dangerous..."
He was suspicious at first but then he realized that you leaving was more good than bad. The thought of you leaving made him sad but the thought of you being safe, away from this psycho made him feel better. In his last words, he proclaimed his undying love to you, wishing you a safe future. A future he wouldn't be a part of.
