CHAPTER EIGHT;
• SPORTS DAY •

"morning el. how do you feel about sports day on this fine thursday?" max asks, leaning against the locker next to el's.

"great. my bruises on my face are mostly heeled so i don't need stupid makeup." el smiles widely at her.

"that fast? what are you superwoman?" max asks with a chuckle.

"anyways, where are we supposed to go?" el asks as they begin to walk

"out to the field." max tells her.

"i hate how we have to wear our gym clothes." el huffs, crossing her arms.

"i bet the boys are loving it though." max smirks, signalling to the guys eyeing her up and down when walking past

"ew!" el hugs herself in response

"i mean you did tie up your shirt." max chuckles at her.

"my shirt is too long so i always do that!" el whines as they arrive out at the field.

"the boys love it." max teases as she groans, sitting down next to mike on the bleachers.

"what are you guys talking about?" mike asks them.

el just smiles, "nothing." she leans down on his shoulder tiredly.

he smiles and blushes a bit at the small action and leans his head on hers.

"imma sleep for the introduction bit. let me know if we have to move." she mutters as he nods

"of course." he says softly as she smiles up at him quickly.

//

"el... wake up." mike whispers, tapping her on the shoulder to wake her up.

she hums, hiding her face in his shoulder more.

"you slept through half of this thing, they're doing bow and arrow now." he tells her as she sits up slowly.

"do you know who signed up as well?" she asks quietly and rubs her eyes.

"no. but looks like stacy did." he points to the front where stacy was pretending to stretch.

"oh no." she panics and turns to him.

"it'll be fine. you'll do great, now go." he pushes her up as she sighs, walking down to the field.

"if you listened at the start, you would know how to handle the bow and arrow. to win, you would have to get the most points. you'll have 3 bows." the teacher explains.

thank god el already knew how to handle bow or else she'll be dead considering she slept through so much.

"now go get a space." the teacher says as el picks up a bow and arrow and walks to a free space.

"hey el." stacy fakes a smile, standing besides her, "i hate to break it to you but i'm really good at this. my grandmother would do this with me every weekend."
