It was the big game tonight. I could hear people cheering my name and my teammates' names. We had this game in the bag. I looked at the crowd until I spotted her.

She was wearing the school sweatshirt and was talking to one her friends. Her friend nudged her as she looked down at the field and our eyes met as she blushed. I gave her a smile and she smiled back and a warm feeling erupted inside me as I heard the whistle.

The team and I ran to the field to start the game. I could feel her smile and it made me play better. For the first time I had someone to play for, to impress. Today was my day.

We scored the touchdown and I looked at the stadium for her. My heart swelled when I saw her yelling and jumping around with her friends. I smiled as I sat on the bench and waited.

We played back and forth. We had a good lead on them, but as every athlete knows never be cocky, something can happen in a matter of seconds.

As the time ticked down, you could hear the cheering. I went over and consoled the boys on the other team for their loss. They congratulated us for we were now going to the championships.

I ran into the locker room and changed. The boys were exceptionally cheery as we were one step closer to being the champions. One more game. One more win and that was the win that would count. The boys and I walked to the parking lot and I saw her again.

She was talking to her friend, as she looked up again and waved. But she wasn't looking at me. I turned around to see Joe, her brother run over and give her a hug and spin her around. When they pulled away she noticed me and gave me a shy smile as she slid into her car, which I returned as she mouthed a 'good job' and I mouthed back a simple 'thanks.' As I walked over to my car I thought. Today hadn't just been a good day, today had been absolutely spectacular.
