The cheering, the excitement, the nervousness was all in the air. You could see the pride in the boys eyes. I saw the boys run out and my eye fell on him.
I saw my brother and waved like an idiot as he chuckled and waved back. As Nova started laughing, she was making faces at her boyfriend Cole. I couldn't help but smile at how they were meant to be. I laughed at her face as Nova blushed. Then her eyes went wide as she nudged me. "Look who it is Evie."
It was him. He was looking at me. Our eyes met as he gave me a smile as the whistle blew and he ran to the field. Nova squealed from beside me. A grin present on his face. And I couldn't help but think maybe I was the reason for that grin.
I watched him play, he caught all the passes thrown to him. He looked so good in his uniform. You could see the sweat running down face, his eyes were dark in concentration, calculating every move.
They got a touchdown, after touchdown and you could the smiles present on not only his face but the entire team's faces. I moved my eyes from him for a moment to see my brother run and score the last touchdown as the crowd roared with excitement.
We had won.
He ran over to the other team, not to brag but to console them. You could see he was being sincere. I couldn't help but smile at the little things he did. It was those little things that made me fall for him even more.
He ran into the locker room with the other boys as I waited by Nova's car and we talked for a bit. "He was looking at you Evie. He smiled you. " She said with a smile.
I blushed. "I know."
"I cans imagine the headlines, Class President and Star Football player hook up."
I shook my head. "Oh hush you!"
I saw the boys entering the parking lot. Grins present on their faces. I waited for my brother to come. I saw my older brother coming out grinning from ear to ear as I waved as he jogged over and hugged me. "We did it Evie. We are going to the championships." He spun me around.
"Good job Joey. Didn't think you'd make but.." He softly punched my arm and pouted as I laughed. He joined in a few moments after. I had an uncanny feeling someone was looking at me so I looked up. It was him. I gave him a smile as I slid into my brother's car. He smiled back. Some courage gave from inside me as I mouthed a 'good job' as he mouthed a 'thanks.' Today hadn't just been a good day, today had been absolutely spectacular.
