More and more people piled in and the hall got more crowded. I watched looking for her dark brown curls. Her dark brown eyes. Her perfectly tan skin. I could feel the impatience creeping up on me.
Where was she? I sighed as they closed the doors which meant everyone had arrived.
Had I missed her, I screwed up my one chance to talk with her. I felt like an idiot. I walked over to the punch bowl and reached for at the same time as a girl. I couldn't see her face but she looked incredible in her blue dress and black mask, which matched my own. I chuckled.
"Well we seem to be matching." I said as she held my gaze.
"Seems like that doesn't it?"
"Well, what's your name princess?"
She gave me a beautiful smile. "That's the mystery isn't it."
"Well then I suppose, you'll be the prince and I'll be the princess." I realized my mistake. She chuckled. "Wait other way! I'll be the prince and you'll be a princess." I silently cursed myself for stumbling.
"I figured that's what you meant." She let out a chuckle. Another girl in a purple dressed came over and flashed me a grin.
"Can I steal her for a moment?"
I smiled back. "Sure. Just make sure to bring her back." She giggled as her friend let out a chuckle.
"I'll make sure of it." They walked away over to the next table as I watched them. I felt someone punch my arm as I turned around losing them in the crowd.
The guy gave me a pointed look. This had to be Cole. "Zach. Have you seen Nova?" Bingo I was right. "She's not answering her phone, and I can't find her anywhere." I gave him a smug smile.
"Cole. Cole. Cole. How unfortunate for you. Maybe she's found a new prince to sweep her off her feet." I said teasingly. His eyes blackened.
"Oh hell no. Nova wouldn't do that. Would she? I don't know?" He did something I didn't expect. "NOVA." He yelled her name so loud that everyone turned to look at us and even the music stopped. I turned to stare at him with an amused smile. As his phone rang and his girlfriend face lit up the screen.
I could see his face go pale in a matter of minutes.
"Yes I'll meet you by the courtyard." He turned to me as he put his phone down. "I think I'm a dead man. She's gonna kill me."
"Perks of not having a girlfriend, my friend." He gave me a sad smile.
"You don't know what it's like to have someone hold your heart and even if she is about to kill me, I still love her." He said dazed.
"Alright lover boy. Go find your girl." He nodded as he walked to the door. I looked for my mystery girl as someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around to see her. "Hello there mystery girl."
She gave me a beautiful smile. "Hi." She said breathlessly. "I didn't want to interrupt you and your friend there."
"He was just being an idiot. No surprise there."
"Yeah, my friend went to find her boyfriend."
"The perks of being single. Friends leaving for their lovers."
She laughed. "ain't that the truth." She said as a certain song came on. Her attention wavered for a bit as she listened.
I smiled. "Dance with me princess." She shook her head and smiled. I took her hand as she gave a small laugh.
"I'm not going dance."
I laughed as I pulled her to the dance floor. "Look where you are princess." I said as I placed my hand on her waist as her she wrapped her arms around my neck as we slowly swayed to the song.
"Thank you." She whispered.
"For what?" I asked confused.
"For everything." She said as the song ended which signaled the end of the dance. She kissed my cheek as I froze. I stood there oblivious for a moment as she pulled herself away. I grabbed her hand. "When will I see you again?"
She smiled as she answered. "Soon I hope." As she let go of my hand and got swept away with the crowd disappearing out the door. I saw something fall off her wrist as I bent down to pick it up.
A bracelet, a simple moon charm. I smiled. I needed to know who she was but when I made it outside she was already gone.
A/N: the song is on the top. And it's This Love by by fav Taylor Swift. Who was that mystery girl? (If it isn't obvious) ^.^
