"Seth." Zach said as I stood there frozen. I had rushed into the room not caring what I said since Joe said he was heading home with the guys.
But he didn't mention Seth wasn't leaving.
"Don't freak out on us."
He looked at the both of us with a smug smile. "Thought you could fool me huh? Well lovebirds don't think I haven't noticed."
"Seth what are you talking about?" He said.
"Dude you've been into Evie since we were little and same with her. The only two who never realized were you two. And Joe of course."
"Seth. You can't.."
"Ev, trust me I don't plan on exploiting your future together. And man Cole owns some money."
"What are you.."
"Well Cole and I always had a feeling and I said before the end of school you two would get together and he knew you liked each other but he assumed Zach wasn't gonna fess up. And he was right until now!"
"Wait you can't tell!"
"Evie trust me when I say Cole and I have seen this coming since the 2nd grade.. That's over 10 years sweetie."
"But.."
"Now now I expect a story lovebirds." He looked down at his phone as it buzzed. "On second thought keep that story on hold. I gotta go. But I'll be expecting soon. Don't do anything bad lovebirds." He said walking out today the room.
I sat as far away from Zach. I could feel his anger at the situation. "Evie come here."
"You know I don't think that's the best idea right now."
"Evie I said come here."
"Zach..."
"Goddammit Evie! All I want to do is kiss you!"
"Zach we should talk."
"About what?" He said sarcastically. "The fact that two of my best friends know now. The fact that's it's a matter of time before Joe finds out. The fact that I might lose my best friend all because I had to stupidly fall in love with his little sister."
I felt the tears well in my eyes. "I'm sorry you think that I'm so stupid and be the reason everything is going wrong for you." I felt the sadness go away and turn into anger.
"Evie." He said softly. "I don't mean.."
"Oh you meant what you said Zachary." I said bitterly. " I'm going."
"Evie. Don't be like this." I grabbed my stuff and started to leave.
When I felt someone pick me up.
"You're not leaving Evie. I'm sorry about what I said." He said softly
"Well I'm still mad." I said not looking at him, knowing if I looked into his eyes I'd forgive him. He put me on the bed as he sat next to me. "Aren't you not supposed to lift things?"
"Yes but I decided if it meant keeping you here I'd take the chance."
He put his finger under my chin and slowly moved so I was looking at his mesmerizing green eyes.
"Evie I hope you know I do love you."
I looked at him and shook my head. No you can't let him get in your head. I grabbed my stuff. "I should go."
He let go of me. "I'll see you at me welcome home party. Right?" He looked like a lost puppy so sad.
"I'll see."
He let out a sigh and kept a firm look. "Evelyn. Trust me you're much more than a stupid crush."
"And that's supposed to make me feel better? Maybe you're right maybe I'm just a girl you stupidly fell for." I said and I slammed the door on my way out.
I saw Seth leaning against the wall. "I guess the lovebirds had a fight." I gave him a glare.
He let out a sigh. "You're still coming tonight right?"
"I don't know Seth."
"Secret lover or not. Zach still cares about you a whole lot Evie. The least you can do is be there."
I nodded my head "Maybe. Just make sure he gets home safe."
