I started at my nails as the teacher put the announcements on. I looked at my phone as I looked at the texts I had received.
These announcements never really pertained to me.
I leaned back in my chair as a familiar voice was heard through the tv.
Zachary Evens.
He smirked as my eyes watched the screen. What are you doing Zach? My eyebrows furrowed as I looked around the classroom and saw all the girls were now watching the screen attentively.
He cleared his throat.
"This is an message out there for a certain girl. You know who you are. And maybe you don't know who I am. But we talked at the dance and I've been searching for you and listen up Cinderella, I don't chase girls but your something else. You're different. You're one-of-a-kind. And sweetheart you dropped your bracelet." He said holding out the bracelet. "Maybe you finally got the message princess. Zachary Evens doesn't give up. No matter what."
My heart stopped as I felt my breath shorten. He was looking for me.
The bell rang and I walked out of homeroom just as Nova pushed her way over to me.
"I guess the prince isn't giving up just yet."
I sighed as I shook my head. "He'll give up eventually. Or some other girl will claim to be me."
"Ev.."
"It's better this way Nov." I said softly as I made my way through the crowded halls of the school but l couldn't help but feel utterly alone.
I quickly made my way to study hall as I felt someone latch their hand onto my arm.
"Bumblebee." He said with a smile. And I bit my cheek to hold back a smile.
"Zach."
"What's the hurry?"
"Considering I am at school i think I should my way to class."
He cocked his eyebrow. "Don't you have study hall right now?"
I smiled. He knew my schedule. That's sweet.
"What would you say to hanging out with me during study hall."
I couldn't help but smile. "Don't you have class."
"Well, I do but I told old Gerdie. I wasn't feeling a bit under the weather. So I got out of class quite easily. So why don't we make our way to the library. Shall we?"
"We shall monkey." I said with a smirk.
"There it is. I was wondering when you were going to call me that after I called you bumblebee."
"How's the search?"
"Useless. Honestly I don't think that she realizes that every girl had been claiming to be her."
I chuckled. "Quite the predicament."
"Well there is one girl who hasn't said anything." He said as he opened the door to the library.
"Who?" I said as I made my way to the book shells to pick a book.
"You." He said as he leaned against the shelf.
"Well why would I lie about being that girl?" I said breathlessly.
He shook his head. "Anyway. Where were you during the dance?"
I paused that's a good question. "meeting new people."
"Ah." He paused as he pushed off the shelf and walked up behind me and reached up to the top shelf and pulled out a book. "Seems like this would be a good read."
He handed me the book.
Cinderella.
I rolled my eyes.
"Seems like the perfect situation."
"Maybe I'll learn some tips from the prince."
"Doubt that."
"And why's that?"
"Because the book's written in Cinderella's perspective and to see the prince's side you'd have to read a book in his perspective."
"Someone should that." He muttered. "It would really help some people find their princesses."
I couldn't help but feel the urge to tell him. To tell him that his Cinderella was right next to him. But i wasn't his Cinderella I was his bumblebee and that's how it would remain.
Because everyone knows when bumblebees feel threaten they sting.
