"Alexander! We need to talk!" Was the first thing I heard as soon as I entered the house.
I looked to see my little brother looking petrified as he looked at me for help. I chuckled as mom came into the front hallway. She gave me a sweet smile and then frowned at my brother.
"Alexander, would you like to explain these grades!?" She said as her voice got louder.
My younger brother who was a sophomore looked at her with a terrified look. "Mom... I can explain."
"Honestly Alex! You need to bring them up! You need a tutor and I talked to your teachers and they agree wholeheartedly and so we have arranged a tutor."
He groaned as I bit back a smile. "Who?"
"Do you know Madeline Bonds?" Alex's eyes grew as he silently nodded.
"Well she's your tutor." He nodded as he muttered that he was going to his room.
I followed him upstairs as he walked into his room and shut the door but before he shut it I put my foot in the door and he looked at me with an annoyed look. "What?!"
"Who's she?"
"Who?" I could see his face flush.
"Madeline?"
"Oh she's just some girl."
I chuckled. "If she's just some girl why do you seem so nervous?"
"I'm not nervous Zach!"
"Sure." I smirked as I winked. "Use some of that Even's charm that will win her over."
He groaned. "She's some smart freshman who is in all smart classes. And she's just you know.."
I smiled and nodded. "I know."
He gave me one of his grins. "You do?" He said as he cocked his eyebrow. "Did you finally grow a pair and ask Evie out?"
I chocked as I looked at him. "What do you mean?"
"Oh come on Zach! You'd have to be an idiot not to notice that you like her."
"I don't like her."
"Sure. Lover boy keep telling yourself that." I grumbled as I ignored him and walked out his room.
"Concentrate on your own girl problem and I'll concentrate on mine."
He laughed as I made my way to my room and thumbed the bracelet that was in my pocket. It had become more of a good luck charm more than anything. The only bad luck was that I couldn't find her.
There was a knock on the door as I swiftly hid the bracelet.
"Zach? Honey can I talk to you?"
"Yeah mom come on in." I said as I stood up.
She came in nervous as she wiped her flour stained hands on her apron. "I got a call this evening." She paused as she looked at me with a certain degree of fright. "Zach. It was your dad. And he wants to see you. Only you."
