At his sudden movement, you flinched

The two of you stared eachother down. Inosuke was watching you expectantly, but you couldn't tell what he wanted

"Oh? Did I do something wrong?" You ask

He seemed reluctant to say what he was thinking

"You remember what that guy with the dark hair said back there, right?" Inosuke asked

You nodded slowly

"We have to learn to focus." He huffed, struggling to look at you with a straight face

"...learn to focus," you echoed

"Yeah. Total concentration," he said "we'll need it if we want to progress at all"

He must be pretty serious about this

"...and?" You urged, waiting for him to get to the point

"And that means THIS is the last time we get distracted" he looks you dead in the eye, his eyes narrowed

"Wha—" you started, but you were cut off

He rushed forward to kiss you, briefly squeezing his eyes shut as he did

Your eyes widened with mild shock, forgetting to close them when your lips met

You can tell by how hastily it was executed, he's been waiting for this. Perhaps he was trying to remain reserved so that he won't lose focus

After all, you've noticed that Inosuke values his strength more than most things

Unlike most of the casual times you've kissed him, this one has a purpose.

You felt a shiver of excitement run down your spine

He pulls away to look at you, not a single trace of dishonesty in his face

Did...he just reject me?! You panicked, blushing

"Yes...I understand" you swallowed

He stands back, looking uncertain. He wants something else he won't say

"See you later," Inosuke mumbled, walking off toward the training grounds. You assume that means he wants to work overtime and keep personal business out of it

"So cruel!" You groaned to yourself

When the afternoon passed, you spent most of your time with Zenitsu, since he was the least interested in trying to work the extra mile

At dusk, you realized that you were pretty bored. After all, aside from training and staying well fed, there isn't much you can do to keep yourself busy

You sat by a window with your legs crossed and your sword in your lap, and Zenitsu came to sit beside you

"Zenitsu? Remember when you were talking about...childhood, and stuff like that?" You asked
