"Mitsuri, I don't need to have so many flowers in my hair. Just a few is alright" 

You sit upright with your back against the young woman, who seems to be braiding as many of them as she could find into your hair. She even had some in her own as well

Kanao who sits on the other side of the room turns to look at you with her head tilted to one side "I think (Y/n) might be on to something. The bees'll get to her before Inosuke-san does."

"I know what I'm doing!" Mitsuri huffs indignantly "just one more okay?"

"Alright, alright" You smile warmly

Mitsuri finishes your hair and does a twirl in delight at a job well done "I'm done!" she says

You get up and yawn arching your back into a stretch and hearing some of your joints crack "Thanks Mitsuri"

"Of course!" she says enthusiastically "are you sure you don't want a formal wedding ceremony? We could do something special for you last minute"

"No." You replied simply "the last thing that I want is to make a big deal out of this."

"ah? why not?!" Nezuko wonders, sitting by your feet collecting all the stray petals aimlessly

"Don't tell anyone I told you guys but, Inosuke is really tense around people. I want him to be calm" you admit

And me too sometimes

Kanao, Mitsuri, and Nezuko all look at each other and think over what you've said. Nezuko nods "I've always suspected he was an introvert!"

"Loudest introvert I've ever seen" Aoi rolls her eyes while she strolls in to take the laundry away

You chuckle and watch her leave with a smile

"Will you come see me soon after?" Kaisei asks, tugging on your clothes

You looked down at the smaller one and nodded "for certain. I won't be long."

"And if she is, assume the worst" Zenitsu adds from the doorway

Aoi comes back to hit Zenitsu over the head with a shoe "Quiet! Don't you have other things to attend to? Off with you!"

"YES MAAM" He cries out, fleeing the scene in terror

"Aoi, you don't have to do the laundry here. This is (Y/n)'s house you know" Kanao says in a hushed voice

"I know that" Aoi puts one hand on her hip "but she's my best friend, too. I'm just trying to make sure they have less to do when they come back."

Kanao sighs and shakes her head slowly "If you say so"

You start toward the door and feel the watchful eyes of all your friends behind you

"I'll be going now," you say

"Good luck" Mitsuri whispers, and the others nod their agreement

Out in the open field, the knee-high grass is still bright green from being late in spring

to your left, the golden foothill slope curves upward into the vast mountain range covered on one side with blossoming trees, which overhang a path leading toward a village

The forest is full of life this time of year. Watching small woodland creatures skitter by in the brush and the canopies gives you a rush of excitement

Behind you, a twig snaps; Turning your attention to the sound, you watch Inosuke stride toward you from somewhere in the distance

You've brought nothing but yourself and some money. And from how it looks, he has done the same.

"This is just about the strangest idea of yours I've heard yet" You blurt out 

Inosuke places his hands on his hips proudly "Got a problem??"

"No," you smile passively at his demeanor "actually, I don't. I've been waiting for an excuse to be alone."

"with you, that is" you add

You take his hand in your own giddily and inhale. As you held his hand you were met with an ambitious grin

"Good." he agrees "Cause I don't wanna go back either."

You squeezed his hand

"...you trust me, right Inosuke?"

he nods "Yeah"

"Then..." You say "let me lead the way through the woods."

"are you sure?" he asks while you pull him along

The two of you pace side by side along the path. Before you disappear around the corner you cast a brief glance over your shoulder as if to say 'I'll be back' to your home

"Yeah, I'm sure."

"NOW HURRY UP" You laugh, breaking off into a run

"HOLD ON, I'M GOING I'M GOING" He yells after you
