Jalyn walks through the front door and is greeted by her mother. "Hey where'd you go so early?" She asks. "I picked up some snacks and a new charger." Jalyn says holding up the bags. "How many snacks did you get?" Her mom asks. "Not much, just some chips, and popcorn, and juice, and Gatorade, and cookies, and chocolate." Jalyn says. Her mom looks at all of the bags in her hands and back at Jalyn. "Yeah, not much. Sure." She says. "It isn't, but it should satisfy me until next weekend." Jalyn says. Her mom looks at her and frowns, "Satisfy you?" "Yeah, all these snacks are for me." Jalyn answers. Her mom looks at her with confusion, "Oh really?" She asks. Jalyn smiles and then laughs, "Nah I'm just kidding, I wouldn't eat all this by myself." She says. "Uh huh, that's what I thought." Her mom says and smiles. She takes a bag from her daughter and goes to the kitchen to put it away. Jalyn follows and does the same thing. Her mom turns to her, "So Any plans for today?" She asks. Jalyn turns to her, "Plans?" Her mom just nods. "Like what?" Jalyn asks. Her mom shrugs her shoulders, "I don't know. Maybe, studying?" She suggests. Jalyn turns to her mother with a disgusted look on her face. "Studying?" "Or maybe shopping, hanging out with people, going OUTSIDE even." She says. "Nah, I'd rather study." Jalyn says. "Yeah okay." "But no, I don't have any plans." Jalyn says closing the cabinet. "Well, it's my day off. Do you wanna hang out?" Her mom asks. "Day off? You get those?" Jalyn asks raising her eyebrows. "It's every once in a while, but yes I get them." Her mom answers. "Huh." Jalyn says nodding. "So, what do you want to do?" Jalyn's mom asks. "Maybe we can stay here and watch some TV." Jalyn suggests. "Did I not just mention going outside?" Her mom says. "Ugh, fine we can go outside." "Yay!" "But, we can't spend that much money." Jalyn says. "What why? I love spoiling you." "I know. But I don't really like being spoiled all the time." She says. "Then what are we supposed to do?" Her mom asks. "What if we go bike riding?" Jalyn suggests. Her mom looks her up and down. "Bike riding? In this neighborhood?" She says. "You right, you right." Jalyn says nodding. "What if we go to the beach?" She suggests. "That's kinda far from here." Her mom says. "Okay, then let's go work out." Jalyn says. "Work out?" Her mom asks. "Oh my gosh, you don't wanna do nothing. See this is why we should stay inside and watch TV." Jalyn says. "Okay, okay. I think I like the beach idea the best." Her mom says. "Cool. Let's go right now." Jalyn says walking to the door. Her mom pulls her arm back, "Girl! I still have to get ready, and so do you." Jalyn looks down at her own outfit. "But I am ready." She says. "No you aren't." Her mom tells her. "Oh, I'm not getting in the water. I just wanna go to chill." "What?" "Yeah." Jalyn nods and her mom sighs. "Well at least put some shorts on or something." She says. "But I'm not getting-" "Just put on some shorts or something." Her mom says interrupting her. Jalyn looks at her mom and presses her lips together. "Okay, I'll go put on some shorts or whatever." She says. "Good." Her mom says. Jalyn walks past her mom up the stairs and goes to her room closing the door behind her. She goes to her drawer and pulls out some black, draw string, basketball shorts. 'These should be fine.' Jalyn changes into them and goes back downstairs to wait for her mother. She goes to the kitchen and pulls out a bag of spicy nacho doritos from the cabinet and a Gatorade from the refrigerator. She sits down at the table and starts eating. A few minutes later her mom comes down. "Alright, I'm ready to go." She says. "Finally!" Jalyn yells dramatically. Her mom just rolls her eyes. "Are you eating the snacks already?" She asks. Jalyn looks at the open bag, then at her mom. "I bought 'em didn't I?" She says. Her mom raises her eyebrows at Jalyns comment. Then she looks behind her, in her purse, and by the stairs for something. "What are you looking for?" Jalyn asks. "Oh nothing much, I'm just looking for who the fuck you think you're talking to." Her mom says. Jalyn sighs, "I was just answering the question." She says quietly. "Use less attitude when taking to me, understand?" Her mom says. "What attitude?" "Understand?" Her mom asks. Jalyn sighs, "Yeah. I understand." "Alright then." Her mom says. She walks into the kitchen and grabs a Gatorade from the refrigerator and her keys off the table. "Let's go." She says. "Okay." Jalyn stands up from the table and grabs her snacks. "Wait, wait a minute." Her mom says looking at her. "What's up?" "You're still wearing the same clothes from before." She points out. "I changed my shorts." Jalyn says. "That's it?" "That's all you asked for." Her mom just looks at her for a moment. "Well what about your jacket? We're going to be at the beach." She says. Jalyn shrugs her shoulders, "I'll just take it off when we get there." She says. "Um, okay." "Alright, let's go." Jalyn says walking towards the door. "Oh wait!" She says and turns around. "What?" Her mom asks. "I forgot to get a towel, I'll be right back." Jalyn runs up the stairs to the closet. "Get me one too!" Her mom yells up the stairs. "Okay!" Jalyn yells back. She comes back downstairs with two towels, one brown, one black. Jalyn hands her mom the brown one. "Here you go." She takes it, "What is it with you and black?" Her mom asks. "It's a cool color." Jalyn says shrugging.
