He sat motionless on a isolated cliff side, his body relaxed and tired brown eyes as he overlooked the island they lived upon. Thomas spotted the rolling waves of the beach and stared as the sparkling blue water was surrounded by some small fields of wild weeds and tall trees, tides splashing over the sand every minute.
It was his favourite get away spot, free from all the noise and calmed his mind. His quiet place.
He was intensely fixated on the sight ahead and quickly held back tears of sorrow. It reminded of him of Teresa's beautiful blue eyes. The only thing he had left of her. He remembered that day vividly, feeling so helpless as it lingered in the back of his mind every night.
Thomas saw her salty tears mix with his blood and sweat as they pressed their foreheads together, clinging to each other like the world would rip them apart. He stared at her watery blue eyes, glistening tears steaming down her cheeks as she desperately pleaded for him to stay awake.
"I'm sorry. I tried." Teresa whispered quietly, her beautiful blue eyes full of unshed tears as she caressed his cheeks lovingly.
In that moment, he understood. It was all clear to him now. Why she did it. How it broke her more than him, she suffered silently just wanting to save innocent lives. Protecting him in the only way she knew how.
"I know." He whispered in a barely audible voice, mesmerised by her beautiful blue eyes. The building was collapsing and violent flames licked closer to the roof as they simply breathed in each other's presence.
Nothing mattered anymore. Lost in each other, their faces shifted closer and closer until their noses gently brushed. Teresa's mouth descended on his, hungrily as she ran her fingers through his brown hair.Thomas moaned, returning her kiss with passion and love as he leaned further into her embrace. He tasted her salty tears and deepened the kiss, desperate for more of her. The crackling of the flames became muted and distant as they drowned in one another.
"I love you." She whispered breathlessly, leaving his aching lips and tracing his moles. Thomas breathed in deeply, opening his heavy lidded eyes and pressed his forehead against hers again.
"I love you too." He whispered back, his heart feeling light for the first time as brown eyes captured hers with such a intensity that she couldn't look away. Time stopped for a while, the heat rising and their fingers entwined as they waited to die together.
However, sounds of engines were heard as the blinding lights of the berg suddenly appeared over the rooftop.
Thomas was so deep in his own thoughts, he didn't hear the approaching footsteps heading his way. A hand shook his shoulder, bringing him back into reality as Gally stared down at him in concern. He quickly shifted his body to the side, wiping any leaked tears off his face before looking back in his direction.
"What are you doing up here, greenie?" Gally spoke in a raspy voice, confused on seeing him here as he spotted Thomas staring blankly at the cliff's view. His brown eyes looked empty. Eye bags could be seen, clearly informing Gally that Thomas was definitely not getting enough sleep.
"Just needed some time alone. Need any help?" He answered quietly, standing up as he spotted Gally holding some chopped wood. Gally immediately refused, never liking to have extra help.
"I got this. Why come out here in middle of no where?" Gally responded, still confused as he silently watched Thomas brush sand off his trousers.
"That's why I like it. We should head back." He spoke, slightly irritated as he started walking towards the path back to the camp. Thomas faintly heard Gally following behind him as he kept his brown eyes fixated straight ahead, forcing himself not to look at the memory stone on the way.
