Unworthy is a lie
"Remember please Cookie, not to eat garbage." I chuckled as I petted the small dog. I turned to face Mrs Flowers. "I am being serious, please don't let Cookie eat garbage, next time it won't be as easy as this time."
"Yes doc," Mrs Flowers smiled. "And thank you so much for your help."
"You are more than welcome," I smiled ruffling Cookies ears. "Pets are the best of friends."
Mrs Flowers held Cookie and walked out of the room. As soon as the door closed, I let out a sigh. I stared out at the clock that hangs on the wall, ten past five, I was finally allowed to go home.
I turned to look at the room and started packing everything and making sure that each of the instruments I used was cleaned and placed in its respective place.
Being a vet wasn't easy, and I knew that since I first decided that I wanted to be one, I had decided that it would be worth it, given that animals and I have always gotten along so easily.
Once that everything was in its place, and I had cleaned every bit of the tools, I decided that it was time to go back home. Living in the middle of nowhere, in a good forsaken almost ghost town, isn't the best place to be wandering out at night...
I came to The States, when I was merely two years old, given that there was a war, and my grandfather sent, my grandmother, my mother and myself here for protection. I have never known who my father was or is, given that when I was ten, my mother was brutally murdered... They called it a wild animal attack, but I have seen the autopsy, silver bullets, one through her heart and the other one through her brain... Why? I have yet to discover that small thing.
I stayed living with my grandmother in a small cottage, at the very end of town, hidden away by trees, and animals, unfortunately, when I was graduating from college, my granny, was murdered, just like my mother, and I, I became lost. I kept on studying to get my degree and once that was done, I came back to the town that received me, yet took away everything from me...
I parked my car at the end of the driveway and stared out at the forest that covered my scenery. It was becoming colder each day, given that it was almost autumn, one of my favourites seasons. This meant shorter daylight, aka I need to cut shorter my days at the Vet or get someone to stay with me... Too many "attacks" were occurring lately...
As if that person could read my mind, as I got out of my car, Andrew parked his, right next to me.
I let out a chuckle as I waited for him to get out of his car. "Are you sure that you are not a mind reader?"
Andrew barked out a laugh. "Heck no, why?" He licked his lips before throwing his arm around my shoulder and grabbing my med bag. "Where you thinking about your handsome best friend?" He wriggled his eyebrows.
