My heart is tired...

Time stopped, as I stared from the stranger to my best friend Andrew, and to make matters worse, they were identical. I knew for a fact that Andrew was adopted, but neither of us had done a background check on his family.

Andrew turned to face me, panic was clear in his eyes, but there was something more, his eyes were swirling with many emotions and colours...

"Calm down," The man spoke and I frowned. "Andrew please calm down,"

"I am calm," Andrew strained. "Astra, I-I don't feel well,"

Before the random guy or I could do something, Andrew's screams grew louder and I watched how my best friend turned into a goddamned wolf. He was a gamiménos lykánthropos!

I gulped as I stared at the huge wolf staring at me. "Andrew?" I spoke and he turned his face to me. His eyes showed confusion and his worst fear, fear itself. "Hey bud, listen to me, everything is okay, I am so not going to boast about the fact that I was right," I let out a chuckle and he growled. I turned to the stranger that was bursting with pride. "How does he change back?"

The stranger frowned at me. "Why are you not scared?" I shrugged and he narrowed his eyes before turning towards his 'brother'. "Picture yourself as yourself, in your human form, and your wolf will do the rest for you,"

And just like the stranger spoke, Andrew did, and soon enough he was standing in his own two legs, naked may I add.

"Skatá!" I laughed as I covered my eyes. "I know that I have seen you naked, but please spare me the nightmares tonight,"

Andrew barked out a laugh. "You are going to have a nightmare because I am naked and not because I turned into a freaking wolf!" I simply shrugged.

"Here," The stranger spoke. "I am so happy I finally found you,"

"Dude," Andrew spoke and walked up to me. "I don't know who you are, or what you are talking about. I don't know my real family, that is given, but me your brother?"

I made a face to Andrew, they are the same! "My name is Nathaniel Pachis," I gasped. "You were taken away by a hunter when we were barely four, and since then, I have been looking for you,"

"A Hunter?" Andrew questioned. "What is going on?" He turned to face me. "Astra, please tell me that all of this is a dream, I can't. he can't, please," He spoke sounding so desperate, that for once in my life I wanted to lie to my own best friend.

I bit my lip and turned to face Nathaniel. "Is there a place where we can crash?" He gave me a simple nod. "Preferably away, and with no one," He frowned. "I know you guys have a pack-house and whatnot, but I don't think that it is convenient for Andrew to be around so many people,"

Nathaniel nodded. "There is a hotel not far from here," Before he could say anything, his eyes glazed and he seemed to be communicating with someone that was not here. "We'll have to hurry up, someone figured out that the lost brother of the Beta is back,"

I raised an eyebrow. "Say what?" He rolled his eyes and motioned us to move. "Okay, okay, but YOU have to explain all of this,"

"Yes, now hurry," Nathaniel spoke as he took us away.

I rubbed my eyes and turned to face Andrew, this was a lot of information to take in at once. Also, this, changes everything, all that we know, all that I know! I am a vet for crying out loud! And not once we studied werewolves...

"So," Andrew broke the silence. "You're telling me that my father, or whatever, is a hunter? And he kidnapped me when I was a baby, with what in mind? To dissect me and what?"

Nathaniel sighed. "He has been at war with us since forever, hunters want to end us, they ended the werewolves royalty back in Greece," Wait what? "And he thought that if he stole you, he could understand your weakness, and destroy us, but as you never shifted, he couldn't really study you,"

"Ah," I spoke. "That explains a lot, but umm, care to explain why on earth he couldn't or wouldn't shift?" Andrew sighed and placed his head on my shoulder. "Also, why have the silver bullets not affect you directly? I have helped two wolves already that have been over at our town, and they have been shot with silver bullets, yet they are still alive,"

"Silver bullets only kill royalty," Andrew and I turned to look at each other. What the actual? "On normal wolves, they sure hurt like a bitch, but that's about it,"

"Uhm," I licked my lips. "How do you kill a wolf then?" Nathaniel raised his eyebrow. "If a silver bullet doesn't cut it, what does?" Andrew shrugged. "I'm only asking because I am a vet, and if I am to keep saving the wolves that appear in my backyard, I need to know what I am dealing with,"

Nathaniel nodded. "To kill a royal, one silver bullet through their head and another one through their heart," I gasped, this was not good. "The average wolf, including an Alpha, by ripping their heart out or you know, breaking their neck,"

I gave one small nod. "I see," I gulped and Andrew squeezed my hand. "Who are you then?" Nathaniel frowned. "You seem to give off a big important guy. So, you are the Beta of this pack?"

"Why are you not scared?" I raised an eyebrow. "You saw your best friend turn into a wolf, and you didn't bat an eye," I gave a simple nod. "You are asking how to kill one of us," He growled lowly and I smirked. "Are you a hunter?" He grumbled as he was on the verge of turning, and Andrew was already protecting me.

"My name is Astra Diakos," I stood taller, stepping aside from Andrew. "Princess Astra Diakos, from the Royal Pack Diakos," Nathaniel gulped. "That's why I am not scared,"

"What?" Andrew gasped.

"Okay, okay, listen to me," I sighed. "I had an idea of who I am, but with this, well let's just say that I am completely sure," I turned to face Andrew. "My giagiá always told me that I was a princess, that I was to do great things, and that I was to make sure that our kind, never died,"

"I believe you now," Andrew chuckled. "What you were saying before my long lost brother appeared," He added staring at Nathaniel.

"Andrew," I smiled at him. "Is it okay if I go back home and you stay here and catch up?" He gave me a sweet smile. "I know what lie to say hahaha," I added with a wink. "See you later, nice meeting you Nathaniel," He gave me a nod. "Mind you, that if he isn't happy when I come back, I will murder you. Do me a favour and tell your wolves to let me leave," And just like that, I walked away.

As I walked over to where my car was parked, I felt the same presence that was inside the restaurant, I tried my best to ignore it, and climbed inside my car.

As I backed up from the parking spot, I looked through my rear mirror, the same eyes from the restaurant and the wolf were staring at me, longingly, begging me to stay, and yet, I drove away...
