If I disappear, will you look for me?
Ever since the arrival of Loki, the environment on the pack was awful, and to be sincere I couldn't blame them. Even when I didn't know the guy or have interacted with him, his aura felt awful.
Kais has been extra careful in keeping him away from where I am, but I don't think that Loki will ever keep away. I haven't had the heart to tell Kais that I have sensed Loki, multiple times when I am alone, nor do I want to tell him so that he doesn't let me leave his side.
Also, I am being somewhat selfish, because if I do tell Kais that I sense Loki following me, he won't let me be alone at the library, where I am trying to figure out why I don't have a wolf. If I am royalty, I am supposed to be stronger than the average wolf, and yet my wolf is still dormant.
"What am I missing?" I murmured as I scanned the book "Werewolf Dynasty".
"Your wolf," A voice startled me. "I'm sorry, too soon?" Loki smirked and I narrowed my eyes at him.
"You are not allowed here," I whispered and turned back to the book.
"And yet I am here," He yawned. "What are you going to do about it? Mind-link my brother?" I was about to refute it when he laughed. "You can't, cause you don't have your wolf, how's your search of that going on?"
I rolled my eyes. "Wouldn't you want to know," I spat. "If I were you, I would run," I added and waited for Kais to appear, alongside Andrew and Nathaniel.
Loki narrowed his eyes, but soon he change his posture to fear when he heard everyone coming here. "How?" He growled.
I smirked and ignored him. "That's what I want to know," Kais growled. "What are you doing here?"
"Are you jealous that your mate will prefer me?" Loki laughed. I swear he has a death wish...
Kais took in a deep breath. "Take him to the dungeons," He ordered and I blinked in surprise. "Loki Scala, you are now a prisoner of the Scala Pack for treason,"
I gasped as I saw the guards alongside Nathaniel take Loki away. I didn't believe that being near me was treason, so maybe Kais had found something more that made him take this decision. I know how much he loves his brother, and I am sure that this pains him.
"Don't feel bad for him Astra," Andrew spoke. "He deserves what he is going to get,"
"What am I missing?" I gulped and turned to Kais. "Please don't lie to me, what is going on? Why are you so hell bound for me to be here at the library?"
Kais took in a deep breath before grabbing my hands. "I, we," He licked his lips. "We found out some extra information about Loki, and what he is working for,"
I shrugged. "And what is the purpose of keeping me hidden?" Kais licked his lips once again. "Please don't tell me that it is to keep me safe, I can protect myself,"
"I know that you can protect yourself, Astra," Kais sighed. "But you have to understand that my wolf wants to keep you out of harm's way, and now that we know the real enemy and the enemy plans, he is becoming extra protecting, given that we don't carry our marks,"
I ran my hand through my hair. "I understand, and I know that being here helps me figure out why my wolf is dormant as you say," I threw myself on the couch. "But you can't keep me here forever! If we are mates, it means that I have to be out there with our pack,"
"I know, I know Astra," Kais cried. "But you have to understand please, I just want to keep you safe," He gave me a defeated sigh. "Please, try to understand,"
"I understand," I replied. "But I can't stay put, ask Andrew," I chuckled.
"Kais," Andrew sighed. "We understand that you want to keep her safe, heck even I want to keep her safe, but she is right, she needs to be out there," I gave him a small smile. "The pack has to know her, and I am sure that they are going to protect her,"
Kais turned to face me. "Fine," He knew he was defeated...
I have to give it to Kais, he has become one of the few persons who had the capacity to turn my mood sour in seconds... Yes he is my mate, and yes I think I am falling for him, but at the moment, I hate him.
I had managed to hide my scowl on my face, and plaster a smile on it, BUT this didn't mean a thing, I mean, I asked for freedom, not to have FOUR BABYSITTERS!
"Astra," Andrew nudged me. "Change your mood, I can sense how mad you are," I turned to him. "And before you start, I know that you are annoyed that Kais placed bodyguards with you, but come on, try to understand him,"
"I am trying!" I hissed. "But come on Andrew," I whined. "This is all new, too fast, too much," I shook my head defeated. "Why can't we go back to normal?"
Andrew placed his arm around my shoulders, pulling me to his side. "I wish nothing but the same," He whispered. "But I am afraid, we are not able to go back,"
"Ugh, I hate your father," I muttered and he gave me a look. "Fine, your evil abductor, I knew I didn't like him for a reason,"
Andrew chuckled. "Hey, but thanks to him, you have found your soulmate," He nudges me. "I think you can at least thank him for that,"
I let out a small chuckle. "I guess," I sighed. "What about you? Have you found your mate yet?"
Andrew let out a defeated sigh. "Nope, at least not yet," I patted his back. "I still need to meet the rest of the pack, but I don't know when that is going to be,"
"Tell me about it," I sighed and smiled at some of the pack members that passed by us. "With this threat or whatever Kais wants to call it, I don't think that he will introduce me to the pack just yet,"
"On the contrary," Andrew smirked. "I can't tell you much, just that you are wrong,"
"Andrew Pachis," I warned. "What aren't you telling me? You know I hate surprises!"
Andrew zipped his lips with an imaginary lock and slightly ran away from me. I couldn't help but laugh at his antics, my best friend was indeed special.
As we walked around the pack, I felt proud of the great job that Kais has been doing, and how adapted to the "human" world they are. I wonder how many other packs have I visited without even realizing it.
It amazes me how my world has shifted, something that was supposed to be my birthright, simply came at a random moment of my life and instead of being awful, it has turned out to be amazing, even when there is a slight threat hanging around. I say slight because I consider it stupid that if Loki is working with our enemy, why would he come here to tell Kais all about it... I mean, there is definitely something that we are not understanding...
"Want to head back to the pack house?" Andrew questioned, but before I could even blink, I heard shouting and suddenly I was seeing black and falling.
"ASTRA!" That was the last thing I heard...
