If only thoughts had an off switch.
I groaned as I heard Ble calling out to me. I felt tired, dead, and defeated, I couldn't even wake up for my morning run. I felt something that hadn't happened in years, I felt sick. I had already told Ble to send out an email to all my patients that the vet was going to be closed, and not to bother me unless it was something important... What is so important now?
"Ble," I whined. "What is going on?" I slowly got out of my bed. "I asked for a quiet day,"
"I am sorry Astra," Ble replied. "But the Mayor has come by thrice, and now has several men surrounding the perimeter,"
"He what!" I growled standing up. "God this man is going to be the death of me," I whispered as I made my way towards the entrance. "Ble, call up Andrew, but make sure that his call stays hidden, and yet he can hear everything,"
"On it," Ble replied.
"Mayor," I sighed and coughed. "What is so important that you have had to wake me up?"
"Where is Andrew?" He barked out. "Why do you look dead?"
I rolled my eyes, but that caused more pain to my head. "We went out yesterday to try out a new restaurant in a nearby town, and the food must have been too heavy or I don't know," I sighed. "Andrew met someone there and I don't know where he is at the moment, we haven't been able to speak," I coughed some more. "Is there something you need or not?"
"Tell Andrew to call me," The Mayor ordered and turned to walk away.
"Get your people out of my property," I spoke. "They keep triggering my sensors and it's disturbing," I sighed. "I don't care if you are the Mayor, if they are still here, I will call the cops,"
The Mayor stared at me and gave me a nod before he placed his phone on his ear. I made sure to lock down the house so that absolutely no one could even approach without knowing.
"Astra?" Andrew's voice brought me back. "Put up your video,"
I groaned as I took a seat in the living room, obeying. "Where are you?" I sighed. "The Mayor, your father or kidnapper, whatever we are calling him now, has been very persistent today on bothering me,"
"Astra you look like shit!" Andrew shouted and I rolled my eyes. "What is wrong with you? You never get sick, are you okay for real?"
"Geez thanks," I coughed. "I feel worst than I look," I sighed. "I don't know Andrew, ever since yesterday I feel terrible," I whined and I heard Nathaniel in the background. "Hello, Andrew's brother,"
"Woah, you do look terrible," I rolled my eyes once again. "What are you feeling? And since when are you feeling like this?"
I shrugged. "I think it's a stomach bug, something on the food we ate," I licked my lips. "Headache, I've puked like four times, I don't know, I feel dead,"
Nathaniel gasped and I frowned. "Did your mother or someone ever explained to you about mates?" I shook my head, I don't recall anything really. "Umm, I think that in Greek it is, sýntrofoi,"
I closed my eyes trying to remember. "No," I coughed. "I don't understand why that matters, something smelled off at the restaurant, it's probably that,"
"No," Andrew gave me a sad smile and I frowned. "Nathaniel explained it to me, your mate is your soulmate, the person you are destined to be with forever," I rubbed my forehead. "Together you become stronger and all, but also, they have a very specific scent. It's a mixture of your favourite fruit and theirs,"
I suppressed my need to puke and laid back on the sofa. "If you must know," I sighed. "It smelled like blueberries and fig," Nathaniel panicked and I saw his eyes glazing over, I frowned. "With whom are you talking?" I coughed on my arm and when I turned, there was blood. "Umm, I think it is time to panic," I whispered.
"Fuck!" Andrew shouted. "Nathaniel please tell me you know who her mate is,"
"Yes," Nathaniel spoke. "He is on his way,"
"Be careful," I whispered. "The Mayor is looking for wolves, but you already know that my house gives to a forest, Andrew can you show a way to enter without being detected," Was the last thing I remember saying before everything went black.
I could hear voices arguing around me, had I left the TV on? Ble was smarter than leaving something on unless of course it was instructed... I had instructed a complete lockdown, how where people inside.
With that thought, I woke up in a jolt, and everyone turned to face me. I gulped as I saw Andrew and Nathaniel, but what caught my eye and my senses, was the smell, that same smell from the restaurant, and another set of eyes looking at me, the same as the first wolf I helped.
"What is going on?" I questioned. "Why are you staring at me as if I was the last bottle of Coke in the world? Eísai sýntrofos mou?"
The guy blinked in surprise and smirked. "Óti eímai mikrí," I frowned. "Kais Scala Alpha of the Scala Pack, and you are Astra Diakos," I gave a small nod. "The long lost Princess of the Werewolf world," I licked my lips and took a step towards Andrew, only for him to growl.
"What is wrong with you?" I questioned. "You, you are the first wolf I helped right?" He nodded. "That's why I felt sparkles?" Nathaniel frowned but Kais only nodded. "Why, how, can someone please explain what the heck is going on?" I whined. "My head is killing me and the fucking Mayor is arriving again!" I shouted.
"Shit," Andrew gulped. "Nathaniel, Alpha Kais I need you to hide, Ble show them the way, and try to stall my father," At the last comment Nathaniel growled but both followed Ble's direction. "Come on, I'll tell him that I came to take care of you,"
"Or don't" I sighed. "Go with them, I'll tell him that you are not here, I did tell him that you found someone, so that should be believable" I raised an eyebrow and he chuckled. "I can keep on pretending that I am still sick, so don't worry,"
"Send him away please," Andrew whispered before I walked over to the front door. I took in a deep breath and half-opened the door. "Mayor? I thought I told you not to come back, Andrew isn't here,"
The Mayor frowned as he saw me. "You seem better," I rolled my eyes. "I come to warn you," I raised my eyebrow. "Someone trespassed to our town,"
I chuckled. "Trespassed? Are you being serious? We are in the middle of the road to a major city, we are being trespassed always!"
The Mayor chuckled darkly and I frowned. "You don't seem to understand Astra, we are a Hunters town, and werewolves trespassed to our town," I gulped, what the heck? "So we are getting rid of them," I saw how his eyes flicker to my hand on the door, and before he could do something, I slammed my forehead to his and slammed the door closed running towards the secret room.
What the hell is going on?
