I'll never be that me again.
I blinked around confused. I couldn't understand where I was or what had happened. All I could remember was Kais demanding Andrew take me to the hidden spot and then an explosion. Slowly, my senses were coming back to me, but I was still disoriented.
Unlike after the battle, I could feel several people around me. I wasn't in a hospital, that was for sure, I couldn't smell chemicals or anything, the only thing that I could smell was mold and rotten things...
"Alas, at last," I heard a voice say. "I had been waiting so long for this meeting," I blinked trying to gather my thoughts, I knew that I knew the owner of the voice, but I couldn't pinpoint it. "Come on Astra, open your eyes!" The voice shouted throwing a bucket of water my way.
I coughed and blinked out finally focusing my eyesight. "You," I sneered as I saw the Mayor right in front of me. "Took you a tip to finally find your trespassers right?" I chuckled. "Whatcha want?" I yawned, trying to prove how bored I was.
"I already have what I want," He smirked at me. "The last Diakos, that means you," I frowned, how did he know who I was? "When your grandmother and mother first arrived here with you, I had barely begun understanding the monsters werewolves are, and as I understood more, and I learnt more, I realized that the hunters were finally ready to get rid of every single one of you," So he had killed my family. "It is said that when the last royal wolf is dead, your species will be eradicated,"
"And you are planning to do that?" I questioned. I had to play dumb so that I could create a plan in my head and find a way out. "I mean, I'm just asking because there are still a lot of werewolves out there, and I doubt that if you kill me the rest are going to drop dead,"
"Stop pretending you are stupid!" The Mayor roared. "You know what I mean! If I kill you, your beloved mate will go into depression, meaning that he won't be able to save his pack and that means that I win,"
I chuckled. "You do know that there are other packs right?" The Mayor blinked. "Oh God, you don't know? I thought you were aware of the simple fact that werewolves are, everywhere," I moved around, and I knew that I could escape, I just needed to keep him busy for a little longer.
"What are you talking about?" He spat. "If I kill you, NO WEREWOLVES CAN LIVE!"
"No one is linked to me!" I shouted as I got free. "And you're about to die," I snarled as I jumped on him.
I stumbled out of the basement where I was being kept, the town was in silence, I heard a small buzzing, and turned to see a screen displaying the dead bodies in the basement. I gulped as I saw all the Hunters defeated, their leader had been decapitated, but they also understood that we were never going to be eradicated.
"Kais," I shouted as I walked around searching for him, but before anyone could answer, I felt a pain in my chest that made me drop to the floor. "KAIS!" I roared this time. "Where are you?" I cried.
"ASTRA!" Andrew rushed over to me. "Come on Astra, Kais needs you, hurry up, walk!" He tried to make stand, but I couldn't. "No Astra," Andrew gritted. "Kais needs you, stay with me please, I'll carry you, but I need you to stay alive,"
"What, what happened to him?" I whispered as Andrew ran. "What is going on Andrew?"
"Kais got distracted when the Mayor said that he was going to kill you," Andrew panted. "As everything started we didn't know what had happened to you or anything, so we simply were fighting against the hunters, and then BOOM! we hear everything that is happening to you, so, of course, Kais got furious, he got distracted when you killed him, someone attacked him from behind and he wasn't prepared,"
"So that is why I felt pain in my chest?" I questioned and Andrew nodded. "Hurry please," I whispered.
I woke in a startle, a hand clutching mine. I knew that I was at the hospital, but I couldn't remember what had happened. I turned to see the hand that was holding mine, only to find Kais peacefully lying down next to me. He was connected to the same machines as I was, meaning that we both had gotten hurt.
"Kais?" I questioned, trying to see if he was awake, but he wasn't. "What the heck happened?" I whispered as I tried to recall all the events that had happened.
"You saved the werewolf community," Nathaniel smiled as he entered the room. "You both have been sleeping for like two weeks," I raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, Kais took a lethal blow, but being next to you helped him heal, but weakened you a bit," I nodded. "It's complicated," He chuckled.
"So what now?" I questioned.
"We reconstruct our community and make sure that all werewolves are safe," Kais spoke as he kissed my temple. "I mean, we do have the last Royal Werewolf among us,"
