Chapter 20: Hospital Stay

Naruto Pov

After all the crying I've done, I must've fell asleep. Granny was on one side of the bed and Itachi and Deidara was on the other. I sat up carefully, not trying to cause myself any pain. I looked over at granny and tapped her head. She stirred a little and then woke up. Her eyes widen when she saw me fully awake. "Naruto! Oh my god Naruto..." She gave me a hug. I hugged her back with a smile. "I'm okay granny." I looked over to the other two and done the same thing I did to granny. "Naruto you're awake." Itachi said happily as he almost ran to my side to give me a hug. I smiled at his actions and gave him a hug. "I'm okay, actually I'm feeling a lot more better now." I said with a big smile on my face. He gave me a small smile and patted my shoulder. "I'm really glad to hear that Naruto." I smiled at him then my smile went away and my thoughts filled with worry.

I looked back at Itachi as he noticed my change in emotions. "Have you heard anything about.... Sasuke? Is he going to be okay? Can I see him?" He gave me a sad smile while I was asking question after question about Sasuke. He looked me straight in my eyes. "Sasuke made it through his surgeries...." I let out a relief sigh and felt my eyes tear up. "...But he hasn't woken up yet. The doctors said that he won't wake up for a while due to his surgeries being complicated..." I didn't have any words...all I can do is nod slowly understanding that Sasuke is still alive but he wont wake up for a while....A long while. 'Sasuke.... Please wake up soon.'

~2 Hours Later~

I was still laying on my bed while the nurse was checking on me. Tsunade went home a little earlier due to having to go to work tomorrow. She kept saying that she can always miss a day but I told her I'll be fine since it was just my leg and I'll probably be home by Tuesday. After a couple of minutes telling her I'll be okay, she finally left. Then 30 minutes later Itachi and Deidara had to leave cause they got called into work. Itachi was visiting Sasuke at that moment while Deidara stayed with me to keep me company. Before both of them left, Itachi came back to my room and quickly gave me a hug. He told me that Sasuke is slowly getting better. I felt some weight being lifted of my chest when I heard that.

The nurse told me that I'm free to walk around the hospital with my new crutches so that I can get used to them before I had to go home. After she told that I stopped her as soon as she was walking out the door and asked her: "Ummm do you think it's okay for me to go see a friend of mine? He's also a patient here." "What's the patient's name?" I pray that she'll let me see him. "Sasuke Uchiha..." She looked through her clip board for a few seconds and looked back at me. "Yes, but since you are not family you can't stay that long, he's in room 303." I nod my head with a big smile on my face and quickly grabbed my crutches. I slowly got off my bed and made my way to the doorway. "Man, these things are hard to use." I said to myself as I was making my way to the elevator.

The elevator came seconds later, I got on it and clicked on the number 3. Since I was already on the second floor, it only took at least 2 seconds to get there. As soon as the doors opened I hurried over to Sasuke's room. '301..302.. Ha 303!' I suddenly stopped before going into his room. 'Come on Naruto, you can do this...' I know why I stopped... Because I'm scared to see him in the state that he's in, he basically risked his life to save mine and looked what happened to him. I felt my eyes starting to tear up. I took a couple of deep and calming breaths and wiped the tears that were falling down my cheeks. "Okay, here I go..." I walked through the doorway and gasped when I saw Sasuke laying on the bed with a bunch of machines hooked up to him.

I slowly walked towards him while feeling the tears build up in my eyes. I then placed my hand over my mouth to cover my sobs. He had wires everywhere on him, too many to count. I heard his heart monitor and other machines that I'm not to aware of. I finally reached his bed, pulled up a chair and sat next to him. I looked him up and down. "Sasuke..." I moved my hand automatically to his and held it tightly, not wanting to let go. After sitting in silence, I started to talk to him. "Itachi's really worried about you know... You're the only family he's got now, well besides Deidara but you know what I mean..." I looked at him with a sad smiled and continued to talk. "I...I-" I stopped and took a deep breath so I dont start crying... but since my emotions are over whelmed the tears started flowing down my cheeks. "I'm s-sorry that t-this happened to you.. If only I didn't want t-to go to the mall. You s-saved me, you saved me and you got h-hurt to the point you almost died! I-I'm so so so sorry Sasuke."
